Finally got the new Jim Jones Revue album. Promo too for the first time.





Not as rock and roll as previous releases, taking in a lot more R&B and the occasional hint of spirituals too. All in all, a very nice item.

Saw Thirteen Shots, Trioxin Cherry & Pussycat And The Dirty Johnsons at the Star & Garter in Manchester over the weekend , all of them great live bands.Watch out from them in the gig guides.

Took delivery of By The Rivers new single yesterday. What a lovely thing it is: three tracks, one 2-Tone ska styled, one dub version of one of their tracks (mixed by Fun Lovin' Criminals side project 'Radio Riddler') and an accoustic ska tune in the style of Chris Murray.

Highly recommended if reggae and ska are your thing. Sorry, 'ting'.

It's not often I get REALLY excited about something that drops through my door unexpected, but a pleasant surprise this week has been the new Erin Bardwell Collective album (the name of which escapes me for the moment).



Not only did I get a nice shiny CD of it, but they also very kindly sent me a copy on good ol' fashionded vinyl. Proper solid vinyl too, the sort that went out of fashion in the early 70s. And in an unlaquered sleeve too, it feels like it's straight out of JA, but somewhat delayed.

Musically it's much the same. old school rocksteady, sweet vocals - but with a distinctive English accent - and what sound like authentic era instruments and production techinques.



Retro was never better than this.
