As an outsider looking in, I am staggered by the volume of vitriol between Halifax RL & Halifax Town fans. This may be a statement of the bleeding obvious but surely co-operation has got to have mutual benefits and if as much effort was put into making positive, joint moves forward as is put into slagging each off wouldn't the outcome be, whilst not utopia, a damn sight more pleasant than the situation you all find yourself in at present.

I have a few friends who support both clubs and without exception they are all decent, level headed, rational people. None of them display the apparent dislike (nay almost hatred) of the "other side" that you see on both this forum and Town's forum.



It beggars belief how it has got to this situation. There is certainly not the same level of "passion" between City & Bulls fans. Most odd.

I think if you closed odsal and moved into vp, there would be some similar hatred in Bradford

Most of it stems from jealousy as Fax, in their eyes, are viewed as the towns golden boys. They have this thing where they feel The Shay is their stadium but then also seem to forget that their team has only been running a small number of years.

As a fan of both clubs but I admit more Fax these days (due to better banter at games with own and rival clubs fans and no trouble Fev incidents apart) it is sad but I must say the majority comes initially from the Town fans as some just plain hate Halifax RLFC and anything to do with it. They throw the initial stone and this then causes resentment and the Fax fans retaliate rather than actually outright hating the Shaymen.

I support anything with Halifax in the name even the RU club I went to Twickenham to see them in that Final a few years ago and felt proud.

I couldnt careless about Halifax Town or football infact. But when the Luddites come on here and become Keyboard Warriors and put down Fax, then it becomes Them v Us. Trying to tell us how to do things, that Town fans have saved our club somehow and that we cant trust our board etc. For me they lose all respect and when their own forum encourages lies and slander and think its big to abuse people then sorry I have no respect for them. I dont see the need to go on a forum where you have no or little interest just to wind people up.

If you take a look at facebook, twitter etc you will see the downright vitriolic, libellous comments not only directed at Mr Abbott but at his charity and worse still his wife and young family.

All of this has been sanctioned by Towns chairman (incidentally the Town statement even spelled his name wrong)

The Town chairman Mr Bossssomworth (sic) sanctioned this by telling his luddites to "make your voices heard by whatever means possible" possible, not legitimate!

At no time have the Town Board or Mr Bosssssomworth (sic) come out and asked for moderation.

I appreciate your sentiments but the moronic hatred of Fax by these people is mostly one way.

I have no interest in football but would like to see a successful Fax, Town, a Halifax Cricket Club and even a successful Rugby union team.

I am very proud of my Town and want anything that bears it's name to be a success (a bit late for "The Halifax

" I admit.

Tip Bob, Pastice 45 is just as good as Pernod or Ricard but quite a bit cheaper and is perfect with a rough red wine as a chaser.
