I dont think the club have helped encourage people to use the new stand. Lets not forget that its not a new stadium, its simply a new stand. Other clubs have seen rises in attendances when they have moved to new stadiums but that does not apply here.

Surely the bulk if not all of the fans that frequent the Skircoat stand will move to the ' new ' stand , so that then leaves you with a ' surplus to requirements ' seated area totally separate from the rest of the ground , so what can you do with it , that is where your increase will happen , if you want it bad enough

I think the stand alone wont effect the attendance much at all, maybe a few hundred come down occasionally for big games or just to look.



The most important thing is the playing side, having them fit, motivated, paid, hungry for a trophy. The stand should only really allowing the club to run itself in better offices and generate more corporate activity and funding for players. The fans will come off the back of this. We need to win something, the stand wont play a blinder in a final or away day. Success on the pitch is what we need, granted we need solid foundations to assist this, but the teams what its all about. Its Rugby after all. Saints have a crap ground, but you would hardly say they would have won more or attracted more fans if they played in something like the Leigh Sports Village. Warringtons a different story, they got money and big signings, that attracted the fans.



p.s. i still reckon the Skircoat roof should be taken off and the seating extended along the grassy knoll, as a first phase to completing it in the future. It would be great for people to sit in the sun watching RL with a cold beer or ice cream, and it would look much tidier as a stadium. Surely selling the roof scrap would help costs.

Totally agree. The roof is ugly and it would be a good idea to give people an option of standing in the open, especially in the summer .... I think the top half of the Skircoat should be seated with a shortened roof (in case it rains), with the lower half being terraced, and unroofed, for standing but easy access to the seats if preferred. I don't think a "grassy bank" would work because we do have wet weather which could make it a bit of a mud bath!

Like the idea of that.
