It would seem it, as we only had 4 players on contract (3 of them kids) during our darkest days last October.

Would be sorry to see Penky go and thought he would have stayed to end his career here, but we have had his best years he is a bit more erratic than normal this season so provided we get a good and younger replacement I am okay with this.

If he is off hes off, but if he does go he has given excellent service to the club. He has looked a bit out of sorts lately and that is probably because he himself found it a hard decision what to do. You do get the feeling of the Fax club getting stronger all the time at the moment so it is a slightly surprising decision. We will just have to hope the replacement is as good and stays as long! If the replacement is better its a bonus.



Just hope all this talk of signings etc doesnt distract players minds tonight.

Just concerning replacements, I would like us to revert back to rotating the hookers, it just gives us that 'plan B' that we seem to have lacked at times this season. Ideally copying the partnership of Gleeson/Beswick and Penky we had a few years back - one player who will control the game and our play (possibly Handforth?) and one player who will tear up the oppositions defence.



Anyway, that's the last I'll say of it till the seasons over!

Yeah I wont hold anything against penky if he leaves at the end of the season, he has been very loyal over the years. If I put myself in his shoes I would sign for my hometown club aswell, why travel a couple of hours each day too and from training when you could go 10 mins down the road?

If he does go then he goes with my best wishes as he has been far and away our best player of the last 5 years and argubly the best player in the Championship during that time.



Have a think of the games Penky has won us nearly single handedly. Or the times when he has either come onto the field as Sub or injected himself into the game with a spark of genius. He'll be a MASSIVE loss, I just hope he leaves Fax having lifted the Championship trophy aloft.



If he goes to Leigh he'll reunite with Beswick, and along with Brierley and Ridyard it's a VERY frightening prospect.
