Des (and not the players) took the trophy before the game because the players didin't want to be distracted by 'celebrating' before the game. They did plenty after the final hooter. It is the RFL that dictates that the League Leaders Shield is presented at the 1st v 2nd playoff match.

I wouldn't however want the interfering side of the Barrow Chairman!! - I for one take my hat off to the guy and the Barrow club. At least when they make statements of intent they achieve them

It was the RFL & Sky who insisted the trophy be given before the game. I would see it as a major distraction for the captain to go and receive it before K.O. Had it been at the end (when I think it should have !!) then the captain would have got it.

In all probability high. I'll be honest I have floated between get rid of Matt and that it would be a silly knee jerk reaction. However many of the performances of late have been so flat and if we do end the season with nothing then I would hope that a review should be taken. If we are serious about SL and wanting to achieve then a season with nothing to show at the end would in my view be a failure and a backwards step from last year. Irrespective of the 2nd place the squad was improved from last year as was the back room staff. The promise of a squad peaking at the right time if I remember rightly, this just hasn't happened.



I am completely at a loss though to what the answer is as I really don't see a replacement if we were to go down that route. Calland is a young coach learning his trade but I also think he lacks the credentials to turn us into a real force. I could talk about all of this for hours!!

MC position does need a review, Fax have got a major RL cold and no one appears to know how to cure it.



However as you say the talk of MC replacement must take place at end of season and not now. Whilst he has games to go and the season is not over MC bashing will achieve nothing.

Gary Tasker, the RFL’s Director of Development will be attending the game and presenting the League Leaders shield to Des Johnston. This will be taking place before KO, at 7.15pm.



Hope that clears that issue up."

I've said it before we'd love somebody who would put money in like Des does. I would prefer Steve o'connor from Widnes though, not just because he's got more money but the way he sems to go about things. You never really hear a great deal from him, unlinke des. What was des' announcement about at half time yesterday? couldn't hear a word of it.

He was asking the fans to help the club go forward and stump up extra cash eg. join lottery.
