BUT AT Leigh, you were 16-2 down at half time, a decent side would have put 40 past you. 2nd half was more typical of the season (24-0) but if you were there (you actually brought 2 coach loads) you would have seen your worst 40 minutes of the season.

This therefore means that the "offence" of going into Administration/Liquidation occurred in the 2009 season and as such any penalty should be applied to the teams points for that season as per RFL statement after the Wigan salary cap scenario's.



However this would rely upon the RFL being consistent in its governance of the game!

So what happened in the Widnes case a couple of years ago when straight after the play off defeat to Cas they went into Administration? Their points deduction was the Season after wasn't it?

Yes it was, but their situation was different. (apparently!) Widnes went into administration, whilst Gateshead club has been liquidated - and they have been suspended from the RFL. They now have to apply for re-admittance, and are talking of using mainly local amateur players.

i wouldnt fancy gatesheads chances next year if they stay in championship....

If you go into Administration then the 9 point deduction is for next season.......... if you are wound up (as Gateshead seem to be) - then the 9 points are taken from this season which will relegate Gateshead.



If the RFL re-instate us is a different matter.

True but probably the right call.

To be fair, they had to do something. I also suspect the Championship clubs did not want 2 less games as times are hard enough as it is. The only other option would have been to leave Leigh and promote Oldham. However with them just escaping a winding up order, this was the only sensible thing to do.
