| I would give Gary Thornton a chance, look at the youngsters he is bringing on. Did a great job at batley with no money. He is a Yorkshire man well worth atry if TM leaves.

| yes , i think it would be a good move . Why not have kear and powell or thornton. These people all have a fair bit of charisma and strength, unlike the current head coach who seems to offer little direction or motivation in order to take out the big teams in key games (or even get to a cup semi). I could also see kear & powell working well together , however I think they would want to take charge of ALL football matters (like they have at their current clubs) and not suffer idiots like Dicky wright having much input. Therefore I can see another untried overrated aussie replacing the one we have !

You have to ask whether or not he would be able to attract quality players to the first team squad to support those youngsters going forward though. Is he in his ideal role looking after the young players and supporting the first team?

That would be a good shout, with Thornton as assistant.
I might have dreamt this but is Tawera Nikau doing some coaching in N.Z?..if he could coach as good as he played

| No, too late now JK, should of happened a few years ago.
Aussie coach I reckon, we seem to fall on our when we appoint a Brit for some reason
No idea why but the Brits can coach, they just don't seem to get the backing of people running the club....i'm thinking of JJ in particular
If we do go for a Brit coach I'd go for Karl Harrison

| Yes, I would give him a chance. Personally, I don't think he's done a bad job with the limited resources of the teams he has coached over the past 10 - 15 years.
He's a local lad, he wears his heart on his sleave.....set the expectations out clearly in stone and give him a 2 year chance.
In 2006, 2008 & 2009 he coached Wakey to a higher finishing spot than Matterson did with us and we've stuck with him!

| Look at the improvement McGuire and Brown made at Wigan & Hull respectively to their British predecessors with largely the same squads! Neither were experienced NRL head coaches so it just goes to show there are good Aussie coaches about who mightn't have been given the chance yet in Oz.
Personally if Matterson does leave at the end of this season I'd be looking for a promising assistant coach from the NRL (unless we can get someone like Steve Foulkes or Wayne Bennett )

| Certainly not - and if Wakie don't get their franchise he can always ply his trade as a Norris Cole lookalike!!

| Its not that long since the chant was Matteson out by most of the fans on here, and quite a few were wanting Kear, just shows what a few weeks can do, and how fickle some fans can be.
