Quote SCR-SeaDiver="SCR-SeaDiver"I would suggest it may be 2 matters involving the 1 incident.
The Santagate occurred on Boxing Day morning.Owen was due to play in the game against Bradford that day.
In this weeks RLE Millward is quoted as saying,''Ritchie Owen has a back injury, but he'll be back in action within a couple of weeks, ready for the friendly with Huddersfield on Friday 13th January.''
This was to account for his absence.
The breach of club code of practice would perhaps be his attendance on the streets of Pontefract drinking or otherwise at whatever o'clock so close to a game.
To assist - the player from the 15 a side sport, who was in a relationship with Kelly Brook, gave an excuse, after being seen in a nightclub on the day of a game,of handing tickets for the game to a friend who was inside the nightclub.
I am uncertain if the same excuse will work in this matter.'"
Richie Owen was announced as being out with a back injury before any incidents took place i.e. www.castigers.com/article.php?id=1963
That rules out your conspiracy theories and incorrect comments.

| Whether it is one incident or two the statement could have been worded better to remove any doubt either way.

The wording of the statement seems fair enough to me, mate.

| Daft lad goes out and has a few beers and gets into a scuffle shocker .
The above comment is not aimed at the current subject of this thread .
BUT .
How many of the people that are lining up to cast stones at Cas and Mr Owen if the rumours are even anywhere close to being true are guilty of such behaviour themselves ?
I am . Therefore I will not (as much as I would love to ) be involving myself in and slating of either the club or the player .
It ain't uncommon for lads to get involved in a fracas on nights out /take drugs / have an affair/ drink and drive / etc etc etc. There must be thousands of such incidents every night of the week . Some happen to involve people who are considered to be public figures .
Yes they should know better , but so should your average Joe .
We all make mistakes . I have made some of biblical proportion in my life .
Some people really need to lose their holier than thou attitude . The fall from those high horses can be very painful so I hear .
Ditto regarding Hull .
[size=50PS THIS IS JUST MY OPINION ON THIS SUBJECT . IT IS NOT ME HAVING A LOVE IN WITH THE FIVE FINGERED INBREDS FROM UP THE ROAD [/size

In fairness its not all of them mostly just the usual suspects, some wakey posters are being objective.
Quote Tigerade="les-goose"Devils advocate - how do you know what he was drinking could have been Lemonade or Coke or Britvic soft drink. As someone whos turn it has been to drive on a night out its not the first time I have done that. How do you know the other guy has not been looking for a go with someone and backed the wrong horse. We dont know the facts so until we do lets be carefull what we say.Lets also face it we have in the past/present had Wakey players with a chequred past.'"
Quote Tigerade="PopTart"Why are we bothered? He plays for Cas. It's their business how they handle their own disciplinary.

Lets not have another slanging match just because [ua few[/u of the wakefield fans are eaten up by bitterness towards us. We have some that are just as bad.

| All seems reasonable to me:
There is an investigation in law ongoing - therefore that is being respected with privacy and that is right and proper.
Secondly, regardless of if Richie is charged (which he isnt yet and being charged is still an acre away from being convicted or in fact guilty bear in mind) he has admitted and the club have sanctioned him becuase guilty or not, he has breached a proprtion of his responsibilities and as such a sanction is warranted.
Without judging on the rights and wrongs, I have had my say on the thread already abotu this - I fail to see in a society that has an innocent until proven guilty justice system what anyone else wants to see? Civic justice is doing its thing, but regardless of that the club has moved quickly to punish a player and he has moved quickly to be contrite and apologise and say as much as he can for the moment.
Seems a very positive position at the moment, door still open if some allegation is proved for further action/statement. End of story.

I think you've summed it up well; the club appear to have done everything they can reasonably do at this stage.
As for the bit in bold - has anyone called for anything more? I don't see a great deal of moralistic outrage about this case and from what I've read, apart from reasonable comments about the follishness of young men in drink, there doesn't seem to be a mob baying for blood.
It reminds me a bit of our own handling of the Gregg Johnson case last season; he was subject to a police investigation and rightly, the club didn't apply any sanctions until that investigation was concluded - when it was and it found him guilty of a serious assault, he was dismissed.
