| Trouble at the KFC Stadium
Looks like despite Pearson's investment - perhaps Ellis' much vaunted:
'I realised I still really wanted to win things and achieve things and I really believe I can do that at Hull FC' - and then being a very expensive crock.
More are jumping ship:
Holdsworth gone
Briscoe gone
O'Meley gone
Tickle gone
Lynch gone
Lots of money thrown at a side that ended up being cup runners up (nothing to brag about)
Perhaps its time to merge the Hull clubs and free up a space in SL for another side.
Neither FC or KR have done bog all since FC won the Challenge Cup way back when.
Maybe that why they walked out of the recent meeting...

| What has all that got to do with giving a reason to merge?
Everything there is about FC for a start rather than KR.
A merger would have being a very good idea at start of Super League. Now has both clubs have grown in the competition, they put a lot of other clubs to shame with their work.
Any two clubs that can bring in a crowd over 20k for their derby is doing something right. Their individual crowds exceed many others, and the away support of both puts some other clubs to shame.
Mergers are definitley something we should be looking at in the game, I will always maintain that, but on current clubs, the Hull merger would be the last at the moment.

| I think you would be better off posting this on the FC and KR board as it really has nothing to do with Leeds.
But for what it's worth, no keep them apart

| Like Gotcha says there's no need for the Hull clubs to merge. They both get either good or reasonable crowds. FC have a very good stadium at their disposal and while Craven Park is in need of some TLC it is, at least, Hull KR's.
Hull is a big enough city to sustain 2 clubs, the worry in my opinion is the amount of clubs in the Wakefield area. It's a difficult one without an easy answer. Hopefully Wakey's new stadium might solve a few issues.

| I don't think you really get it do you. Merging the two Hull clubs would be the worst thing that could happen to professional rugby league in the city. These two clubs hate each other, although I would say it's worse on the East side of the river where they really do believe they live in the shadow of Hull FC. Rovers do pathetic things like have clocks stopped at 6-42 in the 10-5 bar.
There are Rovers fans who won't go to the KC, even for the England game this weekend because it's FC's ground. I know Hull City fans from East of the river who won't go the KC because they share it with Hull FC and only go to away games! The mentality there is absolutely crazy.
On the flip side, there are some Hull FC fans who would not have been to the World Cup games at Craven Park, simply becase of the Rovers connection. I mean, look at when PNG scored last night and they played our old favourite "Tom Hark". The Rovers fans were singing "We all hate Hull" and they actually live in the city!!!!
A merged club in Hull simply wouldn't work because it would drive people away from supporting the club in the city. Hull FC fans want nothing to do with Rovers fans and vice versa. Putting them together simply isn't going to work at all as they don't want to associate with each other.
They wouldn't be able to agree on a name, let alone where to play and don't get started on the colours. The only thing that would probably be easy is the badge!

| Rather than merging 2 clubs couldn't we merge 2 forms of delicious cake into some kind of supercake?

| I think the OP is spot on - I think it'd be funny as fekk watching the fans of Hull Kingston FC knocking lumps out of each other.
