| Quote Austin 3:16="Austin 3:16"Can we have a clearing up on the rules please Mr Chairman, I would have thought a lengthy ban would be more fitting for a prop, surly a one game ban is for them backs, as for getting away with it........well that's more like football.'"
Now then lad. You're quite right. If you're going to do summat then you might as well do summat that will attract a decent ban.
One match ban is a waste of time.

Mr Morley and Mr Dowes to be expected in court in due course then. Just to add though Mr Chairman I think it's about time you had a word with those spineless bureaucrats at Red Hall, this sort of behaviour by them could be detrimental to a lot of your members who go out looking to be endorsed into the PFU hall of fame only to be let down by the sheer bureaucracy within the system.

| Quote McLaren_Field="McLaren_Field"I do hope the art of selling knock-off trainers to your teammates thus implicating the whole team in the subsequent police investigation gets an honourable mention on the PFUs Wall of Fame ?
Mind, that particular big daft lad was also known to play in the centres from time to time.'"
Three Leeds players were tried and cleared of receiving stolen goods in 1977.
I wouldn't describe any as being actual members of the PFU at that time although one had the odd outing in the front row as his career tailed off at Headingley.
An interesting dressing room no doubt with PC John Atkinson sat in there.

Erm, yes, that is the very incident that I refer to and if there is a statute of limitations on receiving charges then I can exclusively reveal here today that my pair were very good indeed, lasted for years they did.
As for PC Atkinson, erm, no further comments...

| £9.99 was an expensive pair of trainers in 1977.
Two men were found guilty at Leeds Crown Court of the theft and handling charges and each received a nine month custodial sentence suspended for two years. They were Paul Mountain (a former Stylo Matchmaker wharehouseman) and Henry Northgreave (a former Leeds RL kit man.)

There is no statute of limitations for criminal offences.
Your post has been forwarded to the relevant authorities.
I know sentencing is somewhat more lenient in the current climate but it really is broken Britain when TV presenters can openly admit to murder and Internet celebrities can openly admit to trainer theft.

| Good to see the PFU's pronouncements being made public at last.
Does this mean that we can seek clarification of specific rules as well?
If so, what is the rule on colours of boots these days?
Time was, when no self-respecting prop would wear anything other than mud-coloured boots but nowadays we see red boots and even white.
Does the PFU allow this?

We will be investigating boot colors in due course and a full report will appear on the blog.

God only knows.

I don't remember trainers in 1977.
Mind you, I don't actually remember 1977 either.

It sounds so long ago doesn't it ?
Its the year I moved to Newcastle, at least, it was 1977 when I left Leeds, by the time I arrived in Newcastle it was the 1950s, it was still a very insular region
