| Ruddy'ell Keith! Good analysis but abit harsh I think! Also there's not chance you'll find me supporting Wigan over saints! I'd love to know your thoughts on the sam tomkins gesture?!
Danny did have a stinker but Webb also did, I understand your point on the Hoffman break but as full back that's the least we could have expected I think. He did little else other than continue to drop the ball and get nailed by leuluai.

Harsh? I watched the game in 3D yesterday and in HD today. Not once have I watched the game in blinkered SD... not once!
I like Wigan... I admire the way they play the game... their defence, their structure, their work ethic... the bedrock of proper Rugby League, the way it should be played. I hope they do the double.
On the Sam Tomkins gesture, not really interested. A storm in a teacup. I like Sam Tomkins. He's a breath of fresh air in a game chocka full of players devoid of personality, charm and individual expression.
I never stated Webb had a good game but there were Leeds players who played worse than him. If anyone ought to be singled out for a poor performance, it's McGuire followed by Bailey and Leuluai.

Agree with all your comments apart from that. Stirrings in my deep subconcious are throwing up surpressed memories from the late 80's and early 90's. Now if Widnes or Hull suddenly start to top the table in the next couple of years and beat us in cup games then that could result in therapy of some sort. Until then I have to support anyone playing Wigan.

We shall have to disagree then.
Wigan's dominance and professionalism in the late 80's and early 90's had beneficial effects. It was an era when the national team actually competed with Australia on the international stage without completely embarrassing themselves. 1998 to 2004 for Great Britain was a golden era... comparatively speaking. The Wigan input was crucial. Wigan were spanking everyone... not just Leeds. I admired them back then and I'm starting to admire them again.
On the topic of Hull and Widnes? Not too fussed about Hull. Don't care. Insignificant in the grand scheme of bad memory recall. They had a short period of dominance in the league but not in the Cup (when it was more important). Never won at Wembley and didn't upset me too much apart from occasionally hammering Leeds in the Yorkshire Cup. Hull KR used to get to me more around that time.
Widnes OTOH? B@stards! Made numerous seasons a misery for me. Could quite easily dislike them again.

| Quote Keith Swiftcorn="Keith Swiftcorn"It wasn't your fault Leeds lost.
It wasn't the fault of the referee or any other officialdom either.
The reasons Leeds lost were mainly down to [uERRORS[/u... and not getting out of the blocks for the first half hour, therefore they trailed 16-0 and left themselves with a huge mountain to climb.
[u8th min[/u: Poor kick by McGuire under pressure. Falls to the ground like he's been maimed or shot. Looks around for referee to award a penalty or thinks about calling for a stretcher, or both! Gets neither.
[u9th min[/u: Charnley TRY for Wigan from resulting field position handed to them by the erroneously gifted McGuire who, in full dive mode limply flaps an arm at Charnley in an attempt to tackle him.
[u16th min[/u: Webb error resulting in lost possession.
[u24th min[/u: Webb knocks on from a bomb under no pressure whatsoever handing Wigan great field position from resulting scrum.
[u25th min[/u: Lima TRY as a result of lamentable efforts at tackling by Bailey and Delaney. Sinfield was never going to stop Lima one-on-one from a metre out.
[u28th min[/u: Over half the Leeds team back off Sam Tomkins as he crabs and jinks across almost the whole width of the field before passing to his brother Joel, who sprints down the touchline evading with ease the comical effort at a tackle from McGuire.
[u44th min[/u: Disappointing attacking kick by Sinfield into the in-goal area in good position and with all the time in the world to execute. Ball went dead.
[u46th min[/u: Leuluai knock-on on 3rd tackle of the set inside Wigan half.
[u48th min[/u: Burrow knock-on - another incomplete set so soon after the previous one.
[u51st min[/u: Sinfield kick out on the full.
[u55th min[/u: Leuluai brain fart having a go at Lima with Leeds in an excellent attacking position a couple of metres away from the sticks after a Peacock drive. Relieving penalty for Wigan.
[u61st min[/u: Long pass from McGuire placing Sinfield under pressure on the last tackle who then executes a poor kick. Wigan get a roll on from resulting favourable field position over next few tackles. Marginally forward pass by Mossop to Lima of the type which are classed as flat passes by Leeds fans when Leeds get away with it. Resulting in a Lima TRY which shouldn't have been scored had it not been for the dreadfully weak efforts at tackling him by Bailey (again!) and Ablett.
[u66th min[/u: Sloppy PTB by Watkins. Scrum to Wigan.
[u68th min[/u: 2nd tackle of the set in good field position and Bailey loses the ball in the tackle.
[u74th min[/u: The poor decision to kick by BJB after the break he'd made down the touchline. There were several Leeds players inside whom he could have passed to. It might work against SL whipping boy rabble like Bradford during the magic weekend but it's less likely to work against a team like Wigan.
[u78th min[/u: Thomas Leuluai TRY - nobody at home in defence. Sloppy and weak. There was the potential for at least another set of six for Leeds to get down the other end of the field and win the game at the death.
Other considerations were...
[u1st min[/u: Hoffman long-distance break through an alarmingly wide gap in Leeds defence in which you could have driven a double decker bus through. Thankfully, Leeds survived the early scare.
[u20th min[/u: Delaney getting lifted marginally above the horizontal in the tackle. However, he'd already lost possession before his legs were raised above the horizontal. A penalty would have been harsh. Leeds lose possession. Wigan scrum. Fair call IMO.
[u22nd min[/u: Knock-on awarded against Sam Tomkins in good field position. Scrum to Leeds. Arguably it went backwards.
[u71st min[/u: Watkins gets away with a more obvious knock-on prior to the 3rd tackle of the set. Far more obvious a knock-on than the Sam Tomkins effort above in the 22nd min which was awarded against him. Leeds then score a questionable try on the last tackle.
[u72nd min[/u: Questionable Ryan Hall TRY in the corner. Did he ground it? I don't think so. Looked like the ball was grounded on the arm of Charnley, several inches above the turf.
[u77th min[/u: Finch kick, kick-chase contested by Charnley and Burrow. Charnley attempts to kick the ball and misses, ball hits the body of a diving Burrow and ball deflects on to leg of Charnley before going into touch. Unlucky call goes against Leeds for a Wigan scrum down resulting in Thomas Leuluai match-winning TRY.
The only instances of [uINDISCIPLINE[/u I recall were...
[u2nd min[/u: Grapple tackle by JJB resulting in an early penalty to Wigan.
[u40th min[/u: Bailey having an unnecessary dig and a bit of niggle at Sam Tomkins as the half time hooter went which almost caused a major melee rather than a minor one.
[u55th min[/u: Leuluai's brain fart against Lima as mentioned earlier.
In conclusion, the best team won and deservedly so. A much improved performance by Leeds particularly with regard to cutting out much of their usual quota of unnecessary indiscipline. Leeds conceded fewer penalties than the opposition which made a very welcome change
Consequently, Leeds were able to compete and give Wigan a stern test.
Most Leeds players played well, stood up to the test and got stuck in. The main disappointments were McGuire (who was awful throughout) and with hindsight should not have played ahead of Burrow. Bailey and Leuluai were also pretty ordinary, and Sinfield had an off day with the boot.'"
Standard stuff there Keith.
However entirely predictable. I am only suprised that it has taken you around 24 hours to get it out. How many times have you watched the game? Your pause button must be knackered (thats if it isnt already worn out) if you know what I mean.
Like someone mentioned earlier, you need to get out more.

The standard truth often hurts and Leeds errors cost them dearly yesterday.
Hacked off ts prefer to chelp, whine, moan and lay the blame elsewhere instead after a defeat.
I do get out sometimes. I went to the game yesterday. I'm guessing you didn't

| Remarkable analysis by KS.
At 24-22 to Wigan it was heart stopping stuff knowing full well that the next try would win it.
A number of us Wigan fans thought that if Leeds had won it then Rob Burrow would have been MOM.
As KS states Leeds made too many errors. Webb's dropping of the bomb led to a Wigan try but Hodgson did the same at Wire from KO and Wigan scored then.
Leuluai's going in on Lima after such a good run by Peacock was stupid. No doubt JP would have told him what he thought when Wigan got the pen.
We always thought Leeds would go round Wigan on the outside and so it proved. Jones Bishop was the fastest man out there and Hall can be devastating. All Leeds tries were scored out wide, hence Sinny only kicked one goal.
Charnley's try was on the outside and Joel Tomkins broke the Leeds line on the outside before scoring under the posts. Both Lima tries were near the posts as was Tommy L's. Richards kicked four from five.
Blaming officials is lame. Leeds were always up against it after going 16-0 down but took advantage of Wigan getting busted up with injuries. Once Tommy L returned I always thought Wigan would win. If he'd played the 80 then he'd have won the MOM. When he was on the field the score was 28-4 to Wigan.
A close game and thrilling when at 24-22.
Leeds can still do it but have an ageing squad.
GH has a lot of work with the squad and the S Stand.
He needs to get both right if Leeds are to win things again in the near future.

It's either one or the other.
The new stand wins!

Sorry can someone explain something here....I've never understood it but Keith/AP/whatever - he's from Leeds (or "loserville" as I beleive he called it pre-2004) isn't he(?) and was at some point a Leeds supporter (and maybe still sort of is) but at some point in his life decided he gets more of a kick outta winding people up on the internet than in supporting any particular team so much so that he'll now give a dull min by min analysis of errors made by Leeds...how does this happen...how can life become so empty and bitter
(The same also applies to the fact that he's British but prefers to slate GB/England at every available opportunity)

I think that hes been emotionally wounded br RL at some point and its had a lasting effect. So much so that he spends most of his life sat behind his PC producing the same old dull trolling attempts month after month year after year.
I think he types one handed as well.

| Cant be d adding up a list of errors but I would guess you could do the same for Wigan and it would more or less equal the Leeds list.
Overall a good final close and tense till the end and for all that one good pass from BJB to Burrow and Leeds would have won in my book. In the end thats all that separated the 2 sides over the 80
We didnt get the crucial calls but hey thats the reality. The ref is a human being not a machine and he will make errors (just like the players) sometimes these go for you and some times against you. We have had our fair share of the 50/50 calls in the past so shouldnt moan too much when it goes the other way.
Wigan are a very good side atm well coached and very well structured. I watched the warm up drills closely and the difference was significant for me.
One was tight well organised and intense.
The other wasnt and it showed for the first 20 -30 minutes.
