| Adding to the concern are the teams around the bottom getting results. See how far adrift they are at the end of this afternoon.

| Quote BrisbaneRhino="BrisbaneRhino"Its bad but Furner deserves more time - its been obvious to everyone except some within the club that the problem is the squad. The fact nobody was interested in any of the players we wanted out speaks volumes.'"
Agreed.
I honestly think the team can learn from their recent experiences if they all keep working hard... It's impossible for most of us to know what's going on with the club culture but if they can sort this out and work for each other the results will come.

| We lost the game because of schoolboy level defence on our right hand side. Furner said in the post match interview that the change of stand off was partly to improve that weakness and he seemed pleased with his decision. Well we let their winger run in 4 tries, some of them unopossed, so on defence dropping Tui did the opposite of improve the problems on our right side, in fact it got worse.
Watkins has never been good at defending at one in and is much better at two in. Both he and Briscoe are not reliable under the high ball and neither have the ability to slide out and trust the man inside to make the tackle with the result that they leave space for either the opposition centre and winger to score. The situation is not helped by regularly being out numbered on our right side due to either our defending stand off or second row or fullback being missing. Finally, and I know this will not be popular with some, but Walker is so ineffective at defending close to the line and so often doesn't get close enough to try scorers to even record a missed tackle. One of the jobs of a fullback is to get the defending numbers right and this is obviously not happening.
Much has been said, quite rightly, about our weakness up front but it is the backs that pose our biggest problem on defence

| Here’s a day I didn’t see coming, I agree with every word of that...
Only thing I’d say is that I’d persevere with Walker given his age and potential, but I’d get him some specialist coaching, perhaps from Lord Gary of Lager?

Nail on the head. Furner has to coach that. At the moment its not happening.

If we signed Lineham it would only take a game or 2 before our fans would be saying he is overweight and has Teflon hands.

| What worries me about Walker is how rarely he's even in the frame when tries are scored. Watch any top full back play and they are generally there or thereabouts when tries are scored, at least giving themselves a chance to stop a try.

| Not a single try on Sat was the fault of walker and between him and Hurrell (although accounting for errors) they're the most potent backs so far. Not least allowing for the fact that he's 19. It's Watkins and Briscoe that bother me most.

I see he is still posting the anti Walker nonsense. Shown up for it last time, and wrong again here. He should have gone to Fev yesterday to see what Golding can offer, and it wasn't very much. Fev looked a much better team with Turner at Fullback first few games, until Leeds forced Golding on them.

| I don't care about Golding. I care about the Leeds fullback and that's Walker. He may be 19 but the job requires him to stop tries - both himself and by organising the goal line defence. My opinion only, but he's not very good at either yet, and the way we're going a Connolly-esque fullback would boost the team massively.

Since Connolly we have only had one decent defensive fullback, and he was forced out and also had anti agendas against him. Didn't see a lot of emphasis put on defence then by the same posters.
If people actually watched games instead of highlights they would also see that Walkers defence is not a cause for concern. Is there better? yes there is, but then you lose the other aspects.
