| Well there have been a lot of rumours that McClenna wasn't the most popular person at Headingley for a while so I can't say I'm that suprised.

| I don't see what the big issue is.
I am not going to bag people who were blinded by our previous success, but next year was always going to be a rebuilding year. I still think more players should have been changed, but I don't see what problem it is changing the coach now. He was going anyway at end of next year, he would not have influenced anything any better for 2011, so don't see the problem in changing now.
The issue now will be is McDermott up to the job for after the rebuilding is done. Personally, I think he might be, but only time will tell.

| Quote RhinoNeil="RhinoNeil"With the tools he was given I think he has done a fine job. The question is whether he has got the finess to coach the top players.'"
I'm not sure how fine a job he did. From what I saw, he was consistently tetchy with the media (a small thing maybe, but not ideal at an expansion club), fielded players in completely counterintuitive positions, and for his last eighteen months couldn't seem to motivate them at all.
I had no problem with him coming in as assistant, effectively on a year's trial to see how he fitted in and whether he had what it takes to be the main man at a big club, as opposed to the behind-the-scenes influence he was under Smith. But from being deemed not good enough to get a contract extension as Head Coach at a small SL club, to being Head Coach at one of the biggest seems to be an absurdly large step. I hope for the best, but can't help thinking "Darryl Powell".

| Bluey heading to Vodafone Warriors and Noble coming to Leeds in 2012. That's my predictions.

| From the statement, it shows that it was Bluey's decision to leave now.
Just add him to the list of people who wanted and have got out.
If you listen to the rumours, a certain King Kev will be happy.

| This will be interesting from a neutral's perspective, because we'll see what McDermott is capable of with a good squad at his disposal.
I think its fair to say I was not unhappy to see McDermott leave Quins - Under his stewardship we saw the club go backwards on the pitch, recruit poorly and as a result declining attendances. Performances particularly at the beginning and end of last season were staggeringly inept - a lack of skill, some terrible defending, utterly lacking any direction going forward. But then, he had limited financial resources at his disposal, despite the obvious talents of LMS, Randall, Orr, Jones-Bishop and Purdham.
On the one hand it baffles me that a coach who achieved such poor results at a smaller club can then go on and obtain a job coaching a much bigger, wealthier club. On the other, McDermott may go some way now to justifying the (hitherto largely unjustified) gushing praise he gets in the media and establishing himself as a geniunely talented coach. But I'm not entirely certain it will work out that way.
If the posts about players respecting him are true, then that's a good start - it was always my impression last season that the squad had very little confidence in him.

| Very strange scenario, having said that i'm sure people behind the scene are fully in control and it won't affect you guys too much.

He has the advantage of already worked here and playing a part in our success.
Of course he has to prove himself and time will tell if he's got the nous and abillity to handle the job.

Exactly!
Next season could be fun, but I'd certainly expect a more robust attitude on the pitch from the entire team.

| I'll admit, i was suprised with this, but with a possible reason i have just been informed of, i can fully understand why he's left.
Thanks for a few great seasons Bluey!
