Now you've said that, it was the first one. The first time seeing the Loiners at Wembley, I stayed for the lap of honour. It helped that they gave a half decent account of themselves.
The following year I wasn't in such a forgiving mood, and scarpered at the hooter.

Ditto. Did you partake in the pitch invasion?

No, only time I was ever on the pitch at Central Park was for the trophy presentation in the Regal Trophy Final 1984!

Neil Lean from Hunslet, Tony Burke from Bramley and Andy Sykes from the colts. We seemed to try out a few young props in that era.

| Eddie Cunningham was a favourite of mine in the centre, he had more of a "cameo season" with us rather than a few appearances (32 appearances 16 tries 1979-80 if Wikipedia is to be trusted). I recall he requested a transfer due to the constant travel back and forth over the pennines.

Yes, I remember that. Fortunately I wasn’t driving as we got a lift with a mate’s dad who was reporting on the match for a Sunday newspaper. We had to hang around after the match while he called in his report so with that and the weather we got home very late. Not that we were too bothered...

Was gonna mention Eddie but wasn't sure he met the criterion for cameo players as he played a full season. During which he was excellent I'll add. Really peed off when he went to Widnes.
