Why is it? Same as in football, you come with a high transfer fee (or wage in this case) the expectation rightly rises.

| Really depressing night for me.
By the time some of those kids retire, I'll be 70. F***ing hell.
Apart from that, there were some pretty positive performances.

| Quote PrinterThe="PrinterThe"It's added to poor reviews from his spell at Bradford. That's what happens when young guys and their agents ask for more money because of their potential.....it increases expectations so he's brought that on himself in that regard.'"
Have you ever asked for a pay rise, or left a job for a better paid one somewhere else? I have, along with most of the working population. It doesn't mean we are greedy or special, it just means we are looking for the best we can get. Why should you rugby players be any different. Smith has been the country captain for his age, a selection made by people that know more about this game than either of us. He's on his way back from a long period of injury, and playing for a team that has been getting beat most weeks, so it's hardly surprising that he's not been a stand out performer in the team we put out tonight.
It's nothing to do with money, you nor I have any real knowledge of what these guys get paid, so stop bringing that into the discussion when it's irrelevant to tonight.

Smith doesnt owe you anything, you know its a preposterous idea that Smith should have accepted less so that you readjusted your expectation. If we are honest your dig isnt really at Smith or anything to do with him its at those who have been critical of the club for negotiations with other youngsters, in this instance them being wrong doesnt make you right.

We do know he got paid more because it's spread on here like a whores legs.
Lilley and Oledzki both went to the same poor performing and got great reviews and this kid Smith has got awful reviews. Maybe if we didn't treat him special and exceptions for him wage wise then he'd have knuckled down better and have more of a point to prove. You start treating young players special whilst they're still in nappies and you'll get what you see in football with young English footballers who think they're the bee knees but then flop.

If you ask for more than those around you then you should deliver more than them.
Same as a marquee player, you pay them the big money because you expect them to produce more than your other players.

Nope. Cam Smiths value isnt set by what Ash Golding is prepared to accept.

He got paid more, is that a pound? A hundred? A thousand? Ten thousand? I don't know and I'm pretty sure you don't either, not that it matters anyway. Players salaries will always be different, this isn't communism, so it's irrelevant.
On Smith himself, he's been brought back from injury into a terrible Bradford team getting beat most weeks, what exactly are you expecting from him. Unless you've actually been watching him play at Bradford you don't know how he's been going. Relying on other people's rhetoric to justify your comments would be poor form, but it's what I suspect you are doing here.
How about giving a young guy who is just coming back from injury and has been playing in a shocking team a break before you try to sarcastically crucify him for a below average performance in a battered team tonight. He wasn't exactly alone in not starring for Leeds tonight, but the reason you've highlighted him is beacause he was able to get a few quid more than his mates at the pay review, so what...
