You know, I had the same thought after reading that post match quote.

The one positive thing out of this current squad crisis is the realisation of how good some of these youngsters can be, would they have had a chance otherwise? Percival, Thompson, Walmsley et al have outshone some of our more experienced pro's :--)

Hopefully he'll get selected again this Friday so we can have a look at him.

Thompson looked at home in the first team.



In defence he did quite a bit tackling, looked a bit confused at times but didn't make any mistakes.



Best part was his running looked very strong and made a few half breaks. He always looked likely to break the line. He has a strong upper body and is a fast runner for a second row/prop. Not quite sure who to compare him with, in terms of running style, Sonny Nickle perhaps. I would hope we will use him as a running explosive second rower rather than a prop. He can always switch to the front row when he slows down later in his career like Jamie Peacock has, rather than ruin him like we have done with Paul Clough.



He was our stand out forward running with the ball (along with Sia) out shining the lazy Puletua and Laffranchi. Given that he is 18 and on his debut you would think he is going to be amazing at 21 given how physical he is now.

That's encouraging although I was rather hoping that he would sound more like a prop, given that we so desperately need props!

He was superb yesterday, really stood up for us.



Personally, I couldn't believe how sharp he looked. Every time he had the ball in his hands he looked like he could make something happen, and unlike most of our forwards, he has a decent mixture of size and pace. He worked hard, and as I say, I was really impressed with him yesterday. He is a natural Second Rower, and if Saints treat him as that, and don't try and turn him into a Front Rower as we tend to do with promising Back Rowers, we have a player on our hands. Our pack under performed badly yesterday, and along with Soliola and Wellens, he stood up, and gave a great account of himself.



As with all the younger players, he did a great job - just wish certain senior players would show the same sort of attitude and work ethic.

He looked great. LMS should be embarrassed seeing this kid play next to him.

What's he like in terms of body shape? Who would you compare him to?

Gutted that I'm missing the Widnes game, was looking forward to seeing him play.

We could have 3 future Internationals in Thompson (Wigan offerd him a good deal after scholarship), Greg Richards and Andre Savelio.



All have them have only turned 18 aswell.
