The Magic idea is a sound one,but I think its perhaps as good as its going to be, I would prefer to give some double headers a chance instead perhaps.

I like the idea of having a round of games outside the parameters; it was a fantastic idea and grew to a good stage in Cardiff until the RFL pulled out.



Edinburgh on the contrary has been perplexingly bad for RL. Poor attendances, poor rugby in some games and just a general distaste for going to Scotland. If the Magic weekend stays then its all well and good but please to god not in Scotland!!

scrap it for me, give players a week off after easter

If it was scrapped then we would only have to play one game over Easter as we'd be a fixture down.

put my full stop in the wrong place sorry there. Meant either 2 over eater or spread out and scrap the weekend. The magic weekedn was ok in the first year but since had died down due to the lack of the novelty.

The attendance was better than I expected.



I think we have a unique event for our sport but it does need tweaking.



Personally I have championed the idea of having it as the venue for last 16 of the challenge cup but setting that aside if it is an extra fixture the RFL need to come up with something different.



Perhaps instead of the derbies we should instead introduce an element of the club call concept. Starting with the bottom club they pick who they want to play until all teams are allocated a fixture. You could even draw it on the same day as the club call as the SL placings would be known.



Perhaps 3 points for a win could be introduced.



Whatever they come up with I would like them to stage a magic weekend in the heartlands next time and see if it is a goer as a concept.



Build the attendance, cheaper for the fans and give the fans and games a better atmosphere.

One other thought instead of having 4 on one day and 3 on the other why not have a nl1 rep team v nL2 rep team game as well.

thing is would you spend the weekend in Leeds or Manchester? When your team plays you would go home thus leaving potentially 2-3k crowds for some games.
