How did you arrive at your conclusion that he was anything but?

Well, he is quite obviously an outstanding talent. He has a highly impressive kicking game which is something Saints are crying out for. The past 2 weeks have shown evidence of how good he is, in that he has been the best stand off in Super League for 2 weeks running due to the frontline index. He can create something out of nothing and has the ability to control a game. He has a very good side step in which he can round the first defender with ease which makes him a try scoring threat. Any player of this capability is clearly not a waste of a quota spot, anything but.

Ah right, so on the basis of two week's viewing, one of which was against a decimated Wakefield side, he is capable of performing with Saints. Super League has been littered with competent NRL players who have come over here and ripped it up with a little club only to then sign for a big club and be exposed for being the big fish in a small pond that they are e.g. Gavin Clinch, Denis Moran, Willie Peters. Also see Danny Orr as a player who looked dazzling at Castleford and then stunk out the place when he got in the big fish tank.



A quota spot should be used to get us a player who is going to significantly strengthen our front seventeen not just our squad. Chase isn't better than Pryce and although he is a good player I think we should be aiming higher when using up a quota spot. A quota spot should be for somebody with ability that we can't grown through our own academy. If Chase was British and wasn't a quota player I wouldn't be arguing with you.



Given that quota spots are now at a premium for clubs with integrity, like Saints, I don't believe the risk is worth taking in going after Chase to fill that for us. He may make a fist of it although evidence and my intuition suggests we should look for somebody else if we need to.

I wasn't basing my opinion on the past 2 weeks, it was on the numerous times I have seen him play. I agree that a quota spot is a 'premium' position, but personally I believe Chase is a very very good player, who would only improve behind a pack that is as strong as ours. If Pryce was to leave at the end of the season I think he would be a more than capable replacement. There's not many Stand Off's better than Pryce and there may not be any that we could attract to the club.
