I honestly can't think of any venue or even potential venue in Bolton Woods. I was very active in watching bands from that era and don't recall any venue anywhere near Bolton Woods. They were regulars at the Princeville, and played a few other venues around town - I remember seeing them once at that pub on Westgate (next door to the Boy and Barrell down the hill). And possibly at the Royal Standard. They probably also played the old Talk of the Town venue on Leeds Road.
Happy Days....'" yes happy days indeed,watched plenty of bands in the royal standard,the punk scene was fantastic in there.the pub down from the boy n barrell was the tavern in the town,yes limelight were regulars on the stage.just cant remember where nosey parkers was.remember seeing son of a bitch at the princeville before they became saxon,then the vaux bar where i saw human league before they made it big,aw the memories are flooding back  |

No, the Goldsborough is the one just a few yards further up from the Corn Dolly. I believe it shut recently? Something i don't think will ever happen to the brilliant Dolly! |

Them w'at days. We didn't 'ave no tellies or shoes or bedclothes. We med us own fun in them days. Do you know, when I were a lad you could get a tram down into t'town, buy three new suits an' an ovvercoat, four pair o' good boots, go an' see Jimi Hendrix at Troutbeck 'otel, get blind drunk, 'ave some steak an' chips, bunch o' bananas an' three stone o' monkey nuts an' still 'ave change out of a farthing.
We'd lots o' things in them days they 'aven't got today - rickets, diptheria, Hitler and my, we did look well goin' to school wi' no backside in us trousers an' all us little 'eads painted purple because we 'ad ringworm.
They don't know they're born today!! |
