| Some really crap suggestions here if you ask me.
I'd like to see someone out there and cool. You know a bit trendy like The Quo or Hawkwind.

| Having seen the state of the music scene in Bradford decline over the last 30 years I'm guessing it will be Leo Sayer/Gilbert O'Sullivan and Chris De Burgh. You seen any decent acts at Georges Hall since the late 80's? I haven't. Used to virtually live in Rio's. I hope it's RUSH.

| The issue of who would be the artist is irrelevant though. It would be up to the marketing guys to pick something that would get a good attendance, and that's the only thing we care about. On that basis I don't even care if it was Rylan, if we fill the place and get some dosh. It doesn't have to be someone I personally would want to see.
These marketing guys are from another planet though. I mean, who would have bet any money that turns like One Direction and their ilk could fill big venues in the States? Credit where it's due.
I'm not sure whether you are dissing Leo Sayer etc. Sayer in his time was a top notch performer, and is a genuine muso who has also written a lot, as well as his fairly recent resurrection with Thunder In My Heart. I should think a concert by him would actually be exceptionally good. But doubt it would fill Odsal, which is kinda my point, and I frankly admit I've no clue any more if the music marketing boys could do it.
Don't think Gilbert would be much of a draw but Chris de Burgh is at the Royal Albert Hall in April followed by the NIA in Brum, and tickets are between £40-£70 so I don't think we'd have trouble shifting tickets if he could be persuaded to come.
The big problem of decent and contemporary turns in Bradford of course is the shameful lack of a mid-sized venue. You could get all sorts on at St George's Hall, but so few people can fit in that you could not afford the top acts. It's the same problem as eventually shut down the renowned Batley Variety Club, but it was good while it lasted.

| Quote Ferocious Aardvark="Ferocious Aardvark"One big problem is protecting the pitch. If that problem can be overcome then at an average of 2 weeks between home games, it should be do-able.
I would expect a wave of objections to concerts by local residents. That may be a bigger problem. You don't move in to houses next to a 25,000 capacity stadium and expect to have any issues with big crowds, parking or noise, after all.'"
the last concert that i went to see at a sports ground was arctic monkeys and amy winehouse at old trafford cricket ground. that was in the middle of the cricket season.
unfortunately the porta loos couldnt cope, people couldnt be bothered queuing or didnt have the capacity. apparently the pitch stunk of booze and urine for weeks afterwards.

| Protecting the pitch isn't really a problem. I went to an REM gig at Huddersfield and they had metal plating over the pitch to protect it.
And the toilets in the ground should be able to cope with demand. You could put a stage down the coral stand end and use the coral stand as the backstage area.
Thing is, I thought the local residents kicked up a stink over last time they tried to get music gigs up at Odsal?

Now there is a line up to keep me as far away from Odsal as possible...
