The news is a few weeks out of date, but I've not seen it on here yet, so I thought I'd share. Manchester Rangers have applied to the RFL to join League 1 (I assume for 201icon_cool.gif.
For anyone not aware, Manchester Rangers were established in 2012 and are trying to build on the heritage of the famous Broughton/Belle Vue Rangers based east of the city centre.
On the field, they're playing in the North West Mens Div2 and finished mid table last season.
But off the field is where they're really making their mark. Since they were founded, they've always aspired to create a professional Manchester-based club, and this application itself has been two years in the making. They play their games at the impressive Manchester Regional Arena, which is part of the Etihad Campus. They already sell season tickets. They've forged commercial links with Manchester Met, Manchester College and an impressive list of sponsors.
In the community game; they've set up a community lottery and they deliver coaching in schools in Manchester and are running an academy.

| I would love to see a Manchester *Mcr proper* RL Club in a semi-pro or pro RL comp.
As a born Mancunian it would be fantastic to see a Mcr Club thriving/building towards a sustainable & integrated future in RL's upper echelons.

| I'm hearing and reading a lot of positive stuff about the Manchester Rangers.
It would be great for Rugby League to have a team with Mnachester in their name in the national competition the same as it would a team from Liverpool

Easy way to completely destabilise two new clubs and the rest of the competitions in one rushed move, yeah.

| Manchester could go from no teams to two teams if the rumour of Swinton eyeing up a move to Belle Vue Sports Village are true.

Trafford with a hankering for Cheshire as it is the 'other' side of the River Mersey

The city rather than the county.
I would say Sale (Swinton) are Greater Manchester.
In the same way Salford, Rochdale, Oldham, Leigh and Wigan are.
So a Swinton move to Belle Vue is a move to the city of Manchester from the borough of Trafford which is Greater Manchester is what I was trying to say.
How this affects the speedway I am not sure.

Small point of order Swinton is in the City of Salford, whereas Sale is in the Borough of Trafford
