| Quote oxford-pie-eater="oxford-pie-eater"A little more recent... Andre Stoop - played for Wigan in the early 90's - think he was S'African. Didn't Cronulla sign that big Springboks prop (can't remember his name?) in the mid 90's - played in the World Club comp... and the Roosters have just signed a young Junior Springbok: [urlhttp://www.sydneyroosters.com.au/default.aspx?s=article-display&id=17767[/url
Sure there's been loads more...'"
Andre was from Namibia.
Mark Johnson played (and scored a bucket load of tries) for London Broncos for a number of years, his brother was a full Bok international.

You might be thinking of Wilf Rosenberg ('The Flying Dentist'). I think he played for Leeds as well.
There were a few South Africans came over in the 1950s and 1960s : Tom van Vollenhoven and Len Killeen at Saints, Jan Prinsloo at Saints and Wakey, Alan Skene and Gert Coetzer also at Wakey, Fred Griffiths at Wigan, Piet Pretorius at Worky, not to mention some Rhodesians (as they were called then) - Johnny Gaydon at Saints and Widnes and Trevor Lake and John Winton at Wigan. Not 100% sure of the last couple, since this is all from memory
Going back even further there was George van Rooyen, the only non-local in the Widnes cup-winning team of 1930. He also played for Wigan, as did Attie van Heerden around the same time I think.

| A fella called Sean Skelton played for us and captained South Africa in the 2000 World Cup. Think he was born in SA and brought up in Australia though. He played a fair bit of first grade rugby for South Sydney and Canterbury Bulldogs in the NRL.
Good player too.
We also had a second-rower in the late 90's called Andy Ballot who was a born and bred South African. He also played at Doncaster and Hunslet.

Haha, can't believe you are still going on with that crap.
On another note, I notice Andy Marinos is the current head of South African Rugby Union. I thought he was South African, but apparently not.

Anyway, he did play for the Bulldogs during the Super League war!
Closer to home Skolars have Rubert Jonker, who has played plenty of first team but can't this year due to the new visa restrictions. Richard Lowe who has now gone home was one of Skolars best in 2007 & 2008.
