RIP to a true legend, a gentleman and inspiration for all. I have never, ever heard a bad word said about him from anybody. Testament to how well respected, revered and loved he was by anybody who knew, or knew of him.
I hope it's not too late to honour Steve with a minute's silence in Hull at 14:30.
RIP Steve, you'll be missed.

Awful, awful news. The word legend gets used too often but in the case of Steve Prescott he truly was. Great player on the field and a true inspiration off. I feel honoured that I got to sing at Linzi and Steves wedding a few years ago. So sad. I' m another in favour of renaming the Man of Steel Trophy. RIP

An inspiration for many and a massive example of some of the best that humanity can do. Whilst hammered with disease he has made strides and efforts that will hopefully help others overcome what he has had to endure.
Brought a tear to the eye and a lump to the throat. I'm sure he will be remembered by many today.

Not unexpected, but still deeply saddening.
A great player, but for his extraordinary, brave - heroic - attitude and actions over the last seven years, he really has left an inspiring legacy.
