Only 4 people on that list are as good or better than Tomkins. Possibly 5.

ST is in the top few as a broken field runner. I would argue he is relatively weak in other areas though. Too many British RL supporters equate flash play with greatness. Effectiveness is what counts.
Pet. Civo. for instance in many ways looked ordinary but he was a great player because he nearly always quitely got on top of his opponents over the course of a big match.
Great players also win big, close matches rather than just scoring a hatful against weaker opposition.
In those terms, I think ST has alot to prove. I think he has the potential to do so though.

Give over! Do you seriously believe that?
I agree 25 is a push, but he certainly wouldn't be Top10 players in their position for me.

| He was excellent in the world cup and pre-season. One average game and people are writing him off. Pathetic. Worse English players than him have done very well over there.

| Jeez. One game?! One game and the critics are out.
He made two tries and could easily have made 3. He was beaten in the air to a bomb and was stepped once when there were 4 others charging across as well, who missed too.
Warriors were not great and Eels were better. Simple as that. Can't pin that on one player

| I feel he is definately in the top 17 in the world, he should kick on to top 10.

I would agree.
If the Warriors pack can start dominating a bit in games to give him the platform and they can sort out their pathetic defence on display throughout the Parra game then he will be at least given the chance to prove it.
Very early days.

I'd be more concerned about how the forwards were outmuscled by Parra, the halves created absolutely nothing and the captain is still .

All good players but not all sparklers. It's a subjective opinion but Sam for me is a once a generation type of player and on his day is amongst the best. Even on an off day, playing in a team that is clearly poop, he still managed to produce flashes of brilliance that only a few of the players you've mentioned could manage.

| Total OTT reaction.
Sam had an average game but he wasn't poor. Damn I have seen Greg Inglis, ben barba, billy slater etc all have plenty of average games and drop bombs.
Sam will be fine. Once tommy is back from injury that will help, tommy knows tomkins game inside out. Guessing tommy will be playing hooker more often then in the halves this year. Although i thought TL and Also tommy and Shaun Johnson were a good combination in the 2nd half of 2013 season. He hardly misses tackles so will be a big plus for the warriors
Tomkins will be a huge success. No doubts about that.

See I'm not so sure.
He is far too light for the NRL. He is built like a teenage boy. He seems to have a problem tackling. Everyone knows that in a pressure situation he can be very ordinary under a high ball. 5th tackle...high ball...get your big men to rush him - spilled ball --- 4 points. Easy.
Full back?
NRL player?
Nope on both counts for me.
