| Quote BD="BD"The issue is Tim Smith, while drunk driving, crashed his vehicle into a civilian's house in broad daylight and got charged for it. Chase has been involved in tiffs in Pontefract and Featherstone and as far as I'm aware that's it - in the first instance he was started on by well-known thugs who have taken issue with him, and the second is under review. Not comparable situations at all.'"
My point is no one blamed Smith's bi polar for his reckless idiotic actions. Why is Chase any different. The guy goes to a rival teams ground and starts a fight with a fan. How is that not anything but stupidity.

Good luck with that one, remind me how did it pan out last time moving to Salford/Leigh ?

| Rangi's finished in League now. He obviously has issues and it's a sad decline for someone who had all the talent in the world.
At 31, he should do a KP and put himself up for the Union 7's circuit. Not sure what money is union 7's but KP is basically a freelance T20 Cricket player these days, travelling the world and playing in the domestic T20 comps. Rangi could get a good couple of years out of the 7's circuit and it suits his game to a tee.

Rangi (and anyone else) should be free to go and watch a game of rugby. That's not the issue here. The issue is that he was extremely drunk.
Interestingly, my understanding is that Rangi was punched a number of times before he retaliated and prior to this, although drunk, he was not aggressive or trying to 'start a fight'.
His stupidity was getting drunk, but this is often the symptom of a person's mental health difficulties.

I wonder how things may have turned out differently had he not left Castleford. The move to Salford put his family life under strain as he moved away from his wife and child and also removed him from a close support network (both personally and professionally) and he eventually split from his wife. He only rejoined Cas after getting back together with his wife and seemed to be back on track and content again. He's only gone off the rails once more now he has split with her again.
I suppose my point here is that there is more to a rugby player's life than rugby. In Rangi's case, he seems to need his family (wife and children) to keep him focused and in control of his mental health. Once he doesn't have this, he struggles and it leads to the kind of bad decision making that lands him in bother.

Not like rangi not to get the first one in, that's probably because the bloke didn't have his back to him.
Aye it's a bit stupid getting drunk, I can't imagine anybody in their right mind doing that.

Exactly. Drunken behaviour leads to bad decision-making. If he hadn't been drinking, he probably wouldn't have gone to the Featherstone game.
I have sat alongside many players from other clubs at Cas matches. Not once have any of them been drunk.

So it's just down to him being drunk then, whose faults that then the landlords' what served him.

Sometimes it is nobody's fault.
Chase has mental health issues. Unfortunately these make it difficult for him to make rational decisions.
It's an illness, not something he chooses to suffer from.

| Mental health and idiocy argument to a side the biggest thing about chase seems to be where ever he plays the teams struggle, regardless of how good he was at Cas 1st time around they were dwelling at the bottom of the table and favourites for the drop the year he left. Suddenly he was gone and Cas haven't looked back.
Salford were pretty dire with Chase, Leigh looked a better side without him, can't be all a coincidence

So how do you explain Cas this season then?
Granted, they've played much better with Roberts on the pitch than Chase, but they've hardly been bad.
