I thought that was a possible call at the time, wouldn't have had much argument with it. I think in this case Bowen was already clear of the line, but there are cases all the time where a player in goal dives forward to get the ball in front of the line and isn't called for a voluntary tackle, even though you couldn't claim he was genuinely trying to stay on his feet and avoid a tackle. |

A tackle is only voluntary if the player plays the ball before being tackled, which I'm not sure I agree with.

Sorry for taking this O/T but Hull won the CC in 2005, which as far as I'm aware isn't even 1 decade ago. Add in the finals in 2006, 2008 & 2013 I'd class them as being near a cup. |

Fair enough, but then Bowen could argue his action was 'necessary' in order to avoid being bundled back over the line. Both cases involve a player doing what they deem necessary in order to avoid the same outcome. IMO, the only time, if even at all, the rule should apply is in the case of deliberate time wasting. |
