Whilst I can't condone any of the booing either at HT or FT I can certainly understand it. That was absolutely woeful. Yes, pre-season is about fitness and I'm glad that performance has happened now rather than in 3 weeks but nobody should be under any illusions, that was, bar 2 or 3 players our 1st team squad. Leigh were light on numbers, a few square pegs round hole jobbies and no coach, yet, with absolute ease, took us to pieces. What a shocking way to open the stadium. Can only applaud the attitude Leigh came with today and they thoroughly deserved that result.



Massive reality check needed by all at Salford.

It was dire. Possibly the worst I've seen. We didn't appear to have a forward on the field. We were totally out-played, out-muscled and out-thought. It looks like being a long, hard season.



We did not seem able to do the basics of running, passing and catching the ball! Some of our tackling (I use the term loosely) out wide was beyond belief.



Here's hoping things can only get better.

not missed a home match in 3 years, traveled from the far side of tameside for every game, and today payed £5 to park the car. an they produce rubbish like that, how do you inspect to increase crowds from the m60 catchment area when the team is basically a laughing stock. if my wife needs her car for work,me an sons will be expected to use public transport to cross manchester to watch that? i dont think so!! pathetic pathetic pathetic

On the flip side to this when we had a pre-season result simillar to this it was against Warrington and that season we should have been relegated. As a Leyther I am over the moon with todays result but I'm not reading to much into it. There is a long way to go.

I've seen Saints lose enough friendlies to know that it means nowt.

Difference is this was the first match in our new ground and the performance was beyond words. Are the coaching staff and players so thick in the head that they do no realise the commercial implications of such a bad performance as today. This lot are taking the complete p*ss and they should be fined a months wages after today. Totally unprofessional they have let the club down badly and should suffer like the rest of us.

Fully agree! Salford will not be the last to lose a friendly match, yes it is disappointing in a new stadium which should be a Fresh Start! but this is what Friendly matches are for to get a team match practice and to know each other!

So what have they been doing in preseason training? Playing tiddlywinks?

To be fair, If I remember rightly Wire had Briers, Bridge, and a '3 or 4' other 1st teamers playing. Today, BOTH teams had just 'a few' missing, and one is in the championship.

Really I can't believe people get so worked up about a friendly.



We have lost in previous seasons to Swinton....... If the players are ready by the time Cas visit I couldn't care less about this result.
