| I'd hope this steeles the Docs resolve rather than makes him reconsider his involvement which the more you read seems a possible outcome.

| they wouldn't have taken this risk if it was meaningless though. I don't understand how you can escape that fact.
Obviously they will have assessed the possible outcomes should the appeal be unsuccessful - clearly the £10k is peanuts to this guy so why bother?
If you dropped a quid down the drain you'd just sew your pockets up and walk off - not stick your arm in to try get it back

| Looking at it the fact that the fine has been dropped but the sanction increased I think shows they know that £10,000 was loose change to the Doc.
Would have thought a two point reduction but suspended for a period with it being re instated if any other technical offences occurred would have been a better option.

I don't understand how you can escape the fact that, as a whole, it's meaningless to us as a Club regardless of what the administration has decided. I understand, as a Yorkie, that anything relating to money is a big deal to you but please tell me as a Salford fan how this outcome changes anything for us?

| but what did the original outcome change for you!?
you say neither outcome matters - but it's still £5k and a two point deduction that you could've avoided.
why take risks for something you aren't bothered about?
to me, appealing was just trying to make a statement - the team cheated to win (without pointing fingers) ...there were bound to be consiquences, surely not losing the 2 points was a little bonus, albeit an unimportant one?

Not much changes for the fans (other than a bit of embarassment) granted but one thing for certain the Dr's threats to break the rules next year has been dealt a massive blow by the RFL. His "do whatever it takes" stance as taken a hit. Five grand and 2 competition points is no big deal though.

I rest my case.
The only point you can make actually says it's meaningless.
I also will reiterate that it wasn't me who appealed, but the Club. I can only say it from my perspective which is it means nothing in the long run. We lose two meaningless points and get a fine. It's hardly going to alter the future of Salford RL Club. If you want to debate whether it meant something to the guys that make the decisions you'll have to ask them, as a fan it means nothing. Zero.

| No I agree with what you're saying, I just don't see why the club didn't just accept the punishment? It was heavey on the fine, but leniant on the points deduction... surely that was as good a result as they could hope for?
Come on, nobody wants to have points docked

I take your point to a certain degree.
The results of all this smacks of the RFL trying to reel in the Dr's comments, which were pretty naive to be honest.

WHAT ?!?!?!?!?!?
CHEATED ?????
Are you for real ?
By suggesting we cheated suggests that it was something that was planned in order to win the game. It was a mistake... How can that be deemed as cheating ? You don't think somebody was stupid enough to attempt to sneak a 14th man on... during a live TV game and think that it would go unnoticed. Do you really thing that somebody said 'Quick... 4th official isn't looking... Cas look dangerous here... let's sneak another man on... nobody would notice'
The fine and the points seem excessive... I'd have been happier declaring the game as a draw as both teams did actually deserve something from the game.

For Salford this season, it doesn't really matter. It's an extended pre-season filled with a team of everyone else's rejects. To have any points at this stage is a huge bonus imo. Maybe the Club had nothing to lose and it backfired? I don't know. We've been through so many trials and tribulations this year that docking us points and fines were almost inevitable and we've probably become numb to these type of things.
