| Quote theredshed="theredshed"So RCD was formed very poorly because they needed extra outside investment and that investor ended up having his business assets frozen a few years after they formed RCD? I wouldn't put that down to being badly formed, more bad luck. Have you considered that without this investors money RCD may never have had enough finance to take the project as far as they did? The bit that makes me laugh is your "we spent hundreds of thousands" comment . . I think you will find it was what the other investors in RCD spent not the club!!'"
Oh come on !!!
RCD was basically Salford City Reds board of directors... Who spent ridiculous amounts of money on a project going nowhere when it would have been better invested in a realistic project that would have given the club what it needed... Our own stadium.

| Quote GT="GT"We weren't meant to be at home, though. That's the point. This issue isn't actually down to Sale, they scheduled their fixtures around ours. Sky have suddenly decided, five days before the fixture, to move it to another date. Sod all this "Sky pay us good money so we do as they say" nonsense, this just shows the utter contempt they have for match going supporters. Do they not realise that some people may already have other plans for that day? Do they think people have nothing in their lives but rugby league? Not that it matters, they only care about the 'product' for television audiences. Awful.
They've made a mockery of professional football (but the Premier League is the greatest league in the world and people all over the globe tune in, so who cares if people have to travel from Manchester to Southampton on a Tuesday night) and they're well on the way to doing the same to rugby league. Regardless of where the game is played, if it's not on Friday night, I reckon I've already watched my last Salford game of the season. Thanks a lot, Sky.'"
Apologies, didn't explain myself very well. What I meant was that if we (Salford) are scheduled for a home league game on a particular weekend (be it Friday, Saturday or whenever sky decide) then surely it can't be that difficult to ensure that Sale have an away fixture assigned for the same weekend therefore avoiding any possibilty of a clash.

RCD spent a large amount of their own money on a project that a lot of supporters were in favour of,were you at the Civic Centre for the council planning committee votes and the public enquiry? I was and so were many others and the council vote was a huge majority in favour whilst the enquiry had no objectors which meant that the inspector called in by that well known HKR advisor John Prescott had to ask himself questions that he thought any objectors would ask, the inspectors words not mine.
You are correct that it took a lot of money(Directors money) and about 12 months time wasted.

OK... fair enough... I should have elaborated more on such a strong point. RCD was Peel, Salford RL, and a few other investors. If we concentrate mainly on Salford because that's who we care about most... The Salford side of RCD invested and gambled hugely. Those Salford directors lost a lot of money during the whole RCD venture.... and I really wish they hadn't... and I do feel for them... But being part of that whole thing was a bad decision which ultimately led to Peel being owed a lot of money (or a part of Peel anyway)... and... Eventually led the club having to settle for a stadium owned by the council and Peel... It was our only choice left to us... So the decision to be part of RCD (which did involve a number of our directors) was a bad one... and look where we are now... playing home games at Leigh.

| Quote Alan="Alan"As a Leyther who is intrigued by what all the fuss is about Sooper Dooper League, I'll probably venture over to LSV on Saturday. =#FF0000Could someone please advise me what the concession (>65 that is!) price is for the West Stand?
By the way, as for Salford honouring car park passes, the parking at LSV is free anyway, but be careful where you park. Don't park on any of the roads for example, or the wheel clampers will have a field day!
I know it's not the same as playing at home, (although your players are training at the LSV complex every day) but I'm sure you'll enjoy the excellent facilities and atmosphere at LSV.'"
Bump!! As something of an exception on here, I want to take the chance of watching a SL game at our stadium. However, your official website isn't giving ticket prices.
=#FF0000Can anyone please tell me what price the West stand (adjecent to the pitch) will be for a concession? (i.e. what would the price have been at Salford?)
I agree that playing your home game at LSV is a big let down for you loyal supporters. However, once your stadium became unavailable, LSV is a fairly logical choice, as it is your regular training base

| I TOLD YOU SO!
Hope all you Sale lovers and appeasers are happy. We have become an absolute joke. My final nail in the coffin was the last game at the Willows. For many more, playing at Leigh will be theirs.
As long as the current Board and it's complete lack of vision and finances are in place, Salford are simply going to continue to die and long and lingering death. Who in their right mind is going to continue witnessing it?
At least this move has provoked 15 pages of responses rather than the recent dribs and drabs of little or no interest to what has been happening all season.

For someone quoted by Martyn Sadler for one of your contributions to this forum, indicating a passionate support after the victory over Warrington, your posting does seem both incongruous and incorrect.
It has nothing to do with Sale - it is the decision of Sky Television.
If current rumours are to be believed new investors are preparing to take over the club so it may be even more ill-luck if the current owner, who made every effort to bring about the new stadium, now has his last game in charge out of the Salford area. They may even introduce or announce the signings for 2013.
I should point out fings ain't been too good since Mr Tarry left the club - but I ain't one for statistics, anyway.Ending the season with a victory to take into next year and to show thanks to the coaching staff did seem a good idea - and courteous as they have battled against the odds throughout.
I thought making a stand for the little man against big business would have appealed to Salford people - without upsetting Sky too much as Maurice Lindsay, and others, decided the game required their contribution and it seems they are here to stay.

| Well I hate Sky as much as the next man stop paying for it over 2 years ago after I put my anarak on and counted the number of repeats in one month, worked out you get 3 days of original programming per month, so a lot of money for 3 days telly. I digress, I for one will go to Leigh and cheer on the Reds hopefully to a hollow victory unless Bradford have been won and then the RFL love-in would have worked, but if some of you remember some of our best matches have been at a neutral ground at the end of the season. So lets give John a send off and put the season to bed and turn up and give a two fingered salute to Sky, drink some beer and give the lads a last cheer. A few hours drinking before the game will numb the senses a little so the pain will not be as bad. I an now ready for the parasites who slag off Salford and only go if they get a free ticket, others who will never go again but you will, Salford always do best with our backs against the wall, the team have no place to go but forward and win. Get behind them I know I will be.
