| Quote BartonFlyer="BartonFlyer"Very similar comparison between David Hodgson and Luke Robinson too.'"
David Hodgson, yes. But not Robinson. He crossed a fundamental line, remember? Posing in another club’s shirt before the end of the season. Hodgy didn’t.

Indeed that was the point I was making - Ratchford v Myler and Hodgson v Robinson - in each case one left with grace and good wishes, t'other didn't!

| Quote Red John="Red John"Since we're going with 14 players nowadays, the intention to field 3 half backs.'"
Joke aside why not think outside the box and have four halfbacks/Centres? Rotate the centre and half back roles regularly on the right and left to confuse the opposition and share the workload.
I think the height, build, speed, defensive qualities and kicking ability of a player stereotypically determines a players position. Why not strive to have four big, fast players with the versatility to organise, kick, defend, create and finish very well?

Or,as a radical alternative,we could leave srategy to title winning coaches?

You are right how can I forget the ingenious 5 drives and a kick strategy of McRae? It revolutionised the sport.

I think this is more likely to confuse our own team than the opposition.
And which four players could fulfill all those roles?

I was thinking more future than present. Sign and mould players to adopt an innovative new approach. I'd just like to see some imagination in the British game rather than copying the Aussies all the time. The idea may be rubbish but I'd just like to see something new and revolutionary from this side of the world. We look up to them too much and give them far too much respect. Let's start thinking outside the box and for ourselves. I fully appreciate it's the national game in Australia and the natural talent they have so we have to find some answers and be smarter in what we do.

While it wasn't ground breaking the last time I think we came up with a specific idea and it worked brilliantly was when we had Coley running out wide or maybe Finnigan to a lesser degree when he ran at pace back towards the ruck when close to the goal line.
