Harry Newman, not so long back is dad was on social media asking fans not to pick on him. Did not do himself any favours at the end of the game, what a prize plum.
Did he start the scuffle? What did he do? Game was over and a Leeds player was talking with Smith and Nsemba, Newman as walked from 20yds away and patted Smith on the head, not sure if he said something aswell but Smith took exception to it the hand bags flew out. Honestly there was no reason for Newman to do that. In fairness, did you hear Smith shouting at him during the captain's challenge? "are you stupid?!"

| Strange how Mr McManus’ rants always coincide with Saints doing badly.

| Warrington didn't vote against the appointment of Nigel Wood.

| RL will always be small-time because we act like this. I've just accepted it. Linking up with the NRL may well have diluted some of our top-talent pool, but this could have worked both ways and we could have taken some of their outstanding juniors on a sort of dual-registration basis, and more importantly tapped into their experience of coaching structures.
Nigel Wood for me, even just visually, reinforces the stereotype of the ageing tubby Northern guy who likes his M62 bubble. I can see why Peter V'Landys seemingly doesn't have any respect for him. Time to put pride to bed and actually start learning from those with experience of expanding a sport. Doubt it will happen though...

| Whatever you think about Wood, it seems the majority of club owners are in favour of the change. I get the impression that Simon Johnson and the rest of the previous board were content with just attending meetings, rather than being proactive in their governance.
I hope Wood isn't a long term appointment, but hopefully it will result in a positive change. I'm sceptical, though.

| I've read a couple of twitter rumours saying, that rather than investing in or buying SL, the NRL will set up their own NRL Europe comp and only want certain teams in it with no P&R, so many teams will be dropped or forced to merge.
Perhaps, that's what Carney was referring to on Friday when he suggested that what's happening in a few weeks will make 1995 seem like a 'teddy bears picnic'.
