I seem to remember a former Warrington Player being shot dead in the late 1980's or early nineties.

I don't think either of them two played for Warrington

The only player I can think of is from the mid 90's and that was Andy Currier. He should have been shot.

Seen Rathbone at a couple of wire games, a while ago though.

Last time I saw him he was struggling to hold up the bar in the Bewsey Farm.



I believe the former player who died may have been Neil Kenyon? Committed suicide in his car from what I remember but did not involve a gun I don't think...

What an outstanding Warrington citizen Mr Rathbone (or "action" as he was called) was. I remember seeing him in Wigan after a game there with his knuckles bloodied with a couple of coppers asking him how he had done it.



Another time in a packed Lion on a Friday night, I must have bumped into him and he swung a punch at me as I walked past, not quite connecting but I felt the draught off it. I remember turning round to see him mouthing "I'll ******* see you outside after".

Think he just liked whacking folk and used RL as a legal means to do it. Fortunately he doesn't know where I live.

Didn't he get jailed for smuggling cocaine?
