I'd be gobsmacked if it was for the thing at Saints. He'd have to (presumably) turn up, have a place to change, get access to the pitch. Given the extra costume and all of those you'd have to say it was planned by the club/super league in conjunction with Saints.

If it was the bloke who did it for 21 years I’d be more concerned with how the club have acted. But this guy was an occasional stand in for 12 years and maybe community events. He’s done match days for 18 months since the original needed to stop due to injury.
