Am not happy with this at all I rate Joel Monaghan but Hicks is class and it sounds like he's been forced out he deserved alot more then this.

Played 82 games, scored 71 tries and 144 goals – 572 points in total
71 tries in 82 games is quite amazing really, he will be sorely missed.

He was class even at his age would of loved to of had here in his 20s.
I just really hope Hicks has wanted to retire but it all seem too planned.

no room for sentiment in top level sport.
Hicks has been brilliant... but he is at the end of his career... Smith obviously thought the chance to sign Monaghan was to good an opportunity to miss.... im sure Hicks got a nice paypacket out of the deal as well. |

Out of interest why only a 1 year deal? Planning to go back to the NRL after its all died down? Otherwise why not with an option of a further year etc.
I suppose it could just be that he'll get a new contract next year on more money if and when it becomes available on the cap. |
