| I don't know all of what's gone on but it is sad to see such talent be wasted.
Even though he left Saints under a cloud he was still a world clas centre - I remember watching his performance against Oz just after coming back from the ban and licking my lips in anticipation of what he'd do for us.
And to be fair - he did, but the 'bad influence' aura grew and when TS came in he had very fixed ideas and knew Glees wasn't the type of player he wanted - I guess for attitude as much as anything else, and we got a very good deal out of it.
It all went downhill from there.
Very sad.
Not sure where this leaves him and the rest of his life. He needs to get some help and a reality check.

| Where something happens with Gleeson, one Mr Sean Long never seems to be too far away!

| So in summary:
Sean Long purchases a supplement;
Sean Long takes the supplement to the Hull head of conditioning to get approval to use and confirmatioin not on banned list;
Ben Cooper (Hull head of conditioning) confirms to Sean Long that there is no problem with teh supplement;
Martin Gleeson struggling with fitness so his mate Sean Long gives him some supplement that has been cleared by their club's head of conditioning;
Gleeson tests positive;
Cooper, Gleeson and James Rule (Hull's Chief Executive) come up with some story to keep Long out of the picture and claim it was Gleeson who approached Cooper for clearance of the product.
Truth comes out and all three are in big trouble.
I have to feel sorry for Gleeson in this instance. As with the betting scandal him and Long are naive in the extreme and appear not to have a brain-cell between them. Weren't they both at Saints when Cunningham had similar trouble and seen how he dealt with it and escaped a ban.
The role of the two Hull club's employees suggests a club being run by idiots and amateurs. I hope for Hull's sake the new owners have a brain.

Cunningham was not banned because the guy who gave him the banned substance was a total rogue. He wasn't even qualified (but he had claimed to be) and it was the RFL who had recommended him to Saints. I can't remember the guy's name but he was duly fired. Cunningham was completely cleared of any wrongdoing; he didn't 'escape a ban'.
Long and Gleeson together are always trouble. I was really surprised when Hull signed them both at the same time. That was never going to end happily!

It was Mike Sutherland, he was a fireman.
I'm sure there was something about it in Scully's book, that he had Millward under his spell and had told everyone how he had all this background working with top athletes from different sports, he used to say he was unavailable because he was working with Olympic athletes but he was working his shifts at the fire station
Stan the kitman rumbled him when they went to pre season camp in Lanzarote or something and he didn't know where the toilets were, when this was a place he was supposed to have been loads of times with the elite athletes he worked with, and then they found out he was a charlatan taking them all for a ride.

| Can't believe this thread reached it's second page without Richie Mathers being mentioned.
Dare I say it but (as much as I don't like him) I think he's been hard done by here, he should have been able to trust the advice of the club's coaching staff. As has been stated on VT, I would hope that 'State of Mind' will keep an eye on him.
