| So why not ban alcohol sales at the ground? We repeatedly hear we are a family sport and the HJ a family stadium, so make it more welcoming to families by removing the cause of 99% of the trouble seen?

| Alcohol sales in the ground no doubt generate some much needed revenue for the clubs, and admission prices may have to rise if it was banned.
More supporters would drink to excess prior to the game, leading to issues either with refused/delayed admittance (i.e. even more people leaving the Rodney etc 5 mins before kickoff) and trouble outside, or drunken fools inside the ground, so no difference there.

| Was there last night and during the evacuation some fev fans were trying to get on to the pitch to get at the fax fans. Some fax fans were goading the fev fans from the pitch. When fax got transferred in to the east stand a group were fighting with stewards and the police. Some idiots from both sets of supporters (very much in the minority I might add) who spoiled the occasion for the proper fans. On another note got told at the game last night that u guys have signed Zak hardacre from fev. 18 yr old winger, rapid, scored two last night and has about 20 from 14 appearances this season. Looks like an exciting young prospect.

I think it's about time you declared your religious beliefs. I'm guessing a Methodist? Definitely a god botherer.
Forgive me if I am wrong but didn't you (or some other likeminded zealot) complain about my avatar in 2008 as it featured an image that looked a bit like Jesus in a dogs ?
If you don't want to drink alcohol then fine but why do you seek to stop others enjoying a perfectly legal pasttime?

Banning drinking in the ground wouldn't solve any problems at all.
Lets put things into perspective, its a very small minority of people who cause trouble at our games, it is an even small minority of people who carry out awful attacks like witnessed yesterday. If drink is to blame for them causing trouble banning drinking in the ground will do little or nothing to stop it happening, people will drink before the game anyway and if they were that set on getting drunk would I'm sure find time for a few extra pints before heading to the ground.
Most fans can drink at the games with no trouble at all so by banning drinking in the ground you would be punishing all for the actions of a minority and most likely reducing the revenue coming into clubs from drink sales.
The individuals causing problems should be dealt with appropriately as problems arise rather than using generalised solutions such as banning alcohol.

So those of us who can drink responsibly bear the consequences of the idiot minority?

Sorry for expressing an opinion that offends you - but hey I guess that's the beauty of being able to express opinions that upset the cliques... For what it's worth (though I see it as no relevance whatsoever - and while you're so keen on trawling through previous posts, you can probably find where I declare my religious beliefs, not that it's anyone else's business...) I'm not a Methodist, I like a drink as much as the next person, but I work in an environment where I see the affects of excessive alcohol both in an anti-social environment & in the context of the damage it does to people young & old. I have formed my opinions on that, on the people I have known killed or seriously injured as a result of alcohol and on the states of people (including family members) I have picked up from the streets after attending sporting events.
Maybe the club would lose revenue from the sales of alcohol but maybe more families would be inclined to watch the match at the ground offsetting that loss? Yes the pubs would have more people drinking in them, but the rate that pubs are closing down that may help their business and will allow police & security staff to deal with them in smaller locations than 8-10,000 in the stadium.
I'm delighted for those who can hold their drink, who know when to stop or who don't feel the need to get tanked up to watch a match - perhaps you would be happy to explain how you don't think there is a problem at the HJ to the family of the lad from Halifax currently in Walton Hospital waiting to see if he lives or not?
