Agreed, he was raw when we signed him, in particular he was an awful passers-by of the ball, but I thought he had something to work with and could develop in to a good player. I haven't seen enough improvement to justify him becoming a first team regular in the time since and he is still a poor passer of the ball.

The thing that es me off about Russell isn't even the lads own fault. Someone thought it a genius move to give him a 4 or 5 year contract, even when he had a number of factors that he needed to improve. Not 2 year with a 1 option, 4 years on probably a decent wage. I have seen par or better players offered shorter contracts or even released in the time Russell has been found out and exposed by Super League clubs.

Perhaps we now have a coach & his assistant who can improve Russell's playing style & that of all his colleague's ,only time will tell. The general standard at Warrington has been in decline under the last incumbents for several years.

He could add another 20m onto his kick returns if he was ever stood in the right place or if he didn't have the turning circle of an oil tanker.
