The sport is so pathetic in this country because we completely over-rate our sportsman, and then slam them when they inevitably fail... i.e what happens with the football team at every world cup.



Tomkins is a very good SL player, but his isn't one of the best players in the world, simple as that really, better to just accept that, than make him out to be something he isn't.

The thing is Ron you go out your way to pan Wigan, so much so that no one takes your opinions on anything wigan related seriously anymore.



I support Wire, i grew up in a Wigan area in the 80's and had to listen to their cack constantly and there is nothing better than seeing Wigan struggle, but at the same time no one is going to think bad of you if you praise Wigan, no one is going to say



"he thinks Sam Tomkins is a great player he can't be a Wire supporter if he thinks that"



Sam Tomkins, love him or hate him is a very good player, he wouldn't make the Oz squad because Slater is better than him but not much better, Tomkins would probably be 3rd choice.



Any other team he's 1st choice, he's better than Lance Hohaia in the Kiwi squad.

3rd choice...... Slater, Hayne and Boyd are all definately better, nevermind the likes of Dugan, Minichello, Hoffman and Barber.



How you can say Tomkins would be 3rd choice is strange, considering he has never performed at International level, was shut down in the WCC and plays in a second rate league.

Tomkins 1st part of this season was just a good player, as the season has gone on his performances have jumped up a level which took me by surprise. His comparison to Myler was down to him playing in the halfs which he doesn't do anymore, hence Rouges comparing him to Myler being a mute point.
