| Quote FireWire="FireWire"Ha ha are things like this actually true or just made up by the right wing press to create a story. I've never been anywhere that has imposed this, or banning christmas decorations or other such nonsense.
TBH it would be funny if they did to wind up the Daily Mail / S*n readership, I reckon I'd support a nationwide ban on England flags. May as well ban shirts while were at it, Warrington looks ridiculous during the World Cup when all the once a year football fans come out in their £19.99 Sports World replicas with things like 'SPIRIT OF' and number 66 on the back.
Back to the football, when does Capello name his 23 man squad?'"
read the todays daily mirror a council (cant remember where) had someones flags removed for health and safety..then they backtracked..this is only the start of it...disgrace

I heard of a story the other day (may be the same one) that some woman had strung a load of England flags across the road tied to two lamp posts. The council rules were that nothing was allowed to be tied to lamp posts so the order went out for someone to take them down due to health and safety grounds.
This has nothing to do with being anti England or fear of offending anyone, just that you can't go and tie anything to a lamp post and string flags across the road.

I like to think of it has a forum for Warrington fans. Because Warrington RLFC is the most common denominator amongst us all, that's what gets talked about the most but I like all the OT threads as well. The more the better.
Do you go on every off topic thread and ask this question, or just when it's football being discussed?

Why not, we used to?
Also if we can have a Notting Hill Carnival which results in the below, surely a few flags across the street are not too much to ask?

No reason why we can't really, the health and safety laws that we have nowadays really are over the top, as is the compensation culture (imagine a flag you've tied across the road falls on a car that then crashes).
The thing that annoys me is that the media, especially the likes of the daily mail and daily express spin this out to be an anti england gesture and it spirals out of control until everyone is saying "dem foriners wont let us fly r flag cus it ofends dem"

To be fair the Cross of St George does cause upset to certain Muslims in the middle-east (and UK) as it will be forever associated with the crusades. Having said that it is the national flag of England, we live in England and I am proud to be English so it's a case of put up with it or leave.
Here is the evidence of one example where Prison Officers were stopped from wearing a St George badge. Taken from edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europ ... index.html

[iA lot of Muslims and Arabs view the Crusades as a bloody episode in our history," he told CNN. "They see those campaigns as Christendom launching a brutal holy war against Islam.
"Muslim or Arab prisoners could take umbrage if staff wore a red cross badge. It's also got associations with the far-right. Prison officers should be seen to be neutral."
Doyle added that it was now time for England to find a new flag and a patron saint who is "not associated with our bloody past and one we can all identify with."[/i'"

| It's not just the English flag which upsets the followers of Islam either. You will note they have not even made it correctly. LOL.

First World Cup I can remember is 1990, but that is the strongest squad I have ever seen assembled for a tournament. There aren't really any weaknesses in there at all.

Exactly. I quite enjoy seeing how much this winds up the tabloid reading masses, but then I'm not the sort of person that would want to fly an England flag anyway.

Pray tell us, what sort of person does fly an England flag then under your generalisation?
