Incorrect again. The only time Saints 'AND LEEDS' have not played in the same top division is when the league was split into Lancashire and Yorkshire Leagues. Interestingly, Castleford were the only other team in this elite group until they were relegated a few seasons ago.



P.S. The split occured during the first world war. At the same time 12 aside rugby was introduced due to a lack of players.

Saints have been relegated (in the early years of Rugby League) They would also have been relegated again but RL went to one division.

The last club to have been relegated for the 1st time in their history was not Castleford but Widnes in 2005.

And a bit unfairly too.



I think Cas saved Widnes from relegation the season before when Cas slipped up and got beat by Wakefield on the last day.

I'll tell you what we'll do. If Saints have never been relegated I will give £25 to the Steve Prescott foundation, if they have you give £25 to joining jack. Is that o.k.

Saints were relegated earlier than that, in 1900-1901 season we failed to win promotion into the first set of national leagues, and in 1901-1902 season finished 3rd in Lancashire to be promoted into what was division 1. However we tanked and finished 2nd to bottom and were relegated. We were promoted again straight away the following season but once again did poorly in division 1 - but saved on a technicality to not be relegated again.

Well done young man. I believe the second relegation was avoided as the RL went to one division at the end of that season. There is (was) a superb reference site on t'internet but I didn't save the url when I bought my new computer.



So the only two clubs still in existence who have never been relegated, to my knowledge, are Leeds and Warrington.

Leeds have never been relegated like Warrington, but unlike Warrington, Leeds haven't spent their entire time in the top division. They only joined the new Northern League the year AFTER it was formed.
