however I heard Tescos have bought this land and intend to charge people to park, or free if going Tescos, so the market will lose customers it is aimed at, serve um right if everyone goes on their own carprk and shops accross to the market.
All the market traders also now have no where free to park and have to pay. |

leigh market cant compete with tesco in most ways, it should be free carparking for everyone and they can choose where to shop.
if i want a birthday card for my wife and goto leigh for it it will probibly put 70p on top of the price for parking to goto the market but nothing to goto tesco we need to keep the main town going as a buisness otherwise it going to die! |

I see there's free parking at the council run sites in Wigan over the Christmas period. I haven't seen anything similar planned for Leigh.

Why do we have to park at the front of a shop these days - does anyone use their legs anymore?
There are many side streets around the town centre were you can park for 1 hour for nowt while you nip and buy your birthday card. These are within a couple of minutes walk from the town centre - and just a minute further away you can have 2 hours. If you park in my street you can have all day and it will take you less than 5 minutes to get to the centre of Leigh. Let's not keep slagging everything Leigh off. Just been on holiday darn sarf and spoke with two ladies from Ince who prefer to shop in Leigh every Friday - it isn't a bad little town you know. |
