In a good game the ref is never noticed, he was noticed a great deal today

The RFL should have a long hard look at what fans pay money to see and ensure the refs understand this is an entertainment business

I was at the match today without a shadow of a doubt Dave Merrick is the worst referee I have ever seen bloody disgraceful ,He wouldn't have to referee an under sevens match, Dave Merrick we'd have been better off with John Merrick (The Elephant Man )

1st half we gave away too many pens, too many forward passes and too many knockons. Despite that we defended well and only conceded off a race away interception and a penalty. Add to that a ridiculously strong wind going straight into our faces and I was extremely confident of a win going into half time at just 8 - 0 down. Then that idiot flattened Brierley and got sent off and I was even more confident.



2nd half with the strong wind behind us we picked it up a gear and destroyed them at times. Man extra helped but we were always going to win that 2nd half IMO.



Penky was MOM for me and Hopkins not far behind him. Ref was very poor but we also gave away too many high shots.

Did you hear the Leigh Team singing, banging and celebrating in the background?

It will be interesting to see what Adam Higson really did to the Dewsbury player, but what I will say is the ref was in line with play and watching when the Dewsbury player blatantly lead with his elbow and flattened Adam. I have to also say that we have to be a bit more savvy with the Ref. It looked to me like he was getting his own back with some of the penalties for what had been going on or said.

Before Glenn Morrison mouths off about the underhand tactics of the opposition, and the weakness of the officials, I would like him to answer one question. Whose idea was it to target Ryan Brierley? Before the red card incident, Brierley had been decked three times, OFF the ball. Did the players take it upon themselves to do this, or was it on the coach's instructions?



That said, our discipline leaves much to be desired. We actually played the last few minutes with TEN men on the pitch, after Armstrong went off injured, after we had used up our replacements and Kurt Haggerty and Jamie Acton were sin-binned. Acton seems to be looking for trouble at the slightest opportunity and it really is a most unedifying spectacle seeing his own players constantly restraining him! McNally seems to be protesting every decision and even if the ref is wrong, he definitely won't change his mind as a result of Gregg's pleadings.



In my opinion, the coach really does need to get a grip on discipline, before it costs us, big time.

Jamie patted a couple of their players on the head hardly thuggish and ran in at the end to be dragged away by Bob , didn't see him do much wrong really .

I agree with DJ. Acton was involved in a lot but he never actually threw a punch, even after Haggerty took Kes's head off. I kept thinking he was going to boil over but although he put himself about he didn't actually do much wrong IMO.
