| As a club we definitely had the advantage in the 'partnership' if people are thinking about the Sam Hopkins Transfer, couldn't Wigan have just waited until the end of the season and got him for 'nowt'? whereas it is we got a nice tidy sum, we also got use of some good players - remember Scott Taylors input at Fev? - not to mention having first 'dibs' at Tom Spencer.
Im not sad nor am I happy over the ending of the partnership, it worked for us when it was needed and we got a couple of good players off the back of it.

| In today's trade press, Tony Smith of Warrington Lions, moans that the Championship clubs never treated the partnership agreements properly - presumably he means like Swinton did? So, whatever we thought of 'partnering' with Wigan, it could have been worse, had the likes of Smith got his way.
He also reckons that P&R will weaken SL - as distinct from having 2 to 3 SL clubs going bust every season, and just hanging in there to make up the numbers, I assume.

| The trouble is he has been brought up on RL in OZ and he thinks it works there so as it is RL he is coaching here it will work here too.
He seems to forget Australia is a continent whereas primarily pro RL in this country is esentially confined to 3 counties. He also seems not to realise that our national pysche in this country cannot concieve of a pro sport with no P & R.
The evidence has shown that RL fans will not support Licenscing because practically all clubs average gates have declined since it's introduction.
I like to think folk should learn from their mistakes but it doesn't seem to me that Mr Smith is capable of grasping that concept which would give me pause for thought if I was on the Warrington Board of Directors.

| Smith wants to remember that he wouldn't have had a coaching career here if it wasn't for Huddersfield being relegated. Nobody would have touched him with a bargepole if they had stayed up and got tonked every week (again).

| Don't all of the smug SLE coaches think so though, the lot of em are scared senseless about losing their jobs if their team is demoted.

| I forgot to mention his view on Partnerships which just shows you he is not the brightest kid on the block and he comes over as one very selfish individual who finds it impossible to see the bigger picture.

| Quite a few players have this vue also. Their new organisation manager, John Wilkin has these views and that licensing should stay.
