Bitterly, bitterly disappointed with this shambles! When the one-man band ousted the rest of the consortium and embarked on his journey, I felt there was only one way for it to end - it was just a question of when. We were encouraged to "enjoy the ride" but that's not easy, when you know it's going to end in a car crash!

But we were very close to achieving something like SL sustainability last year Alan , think back to how many games we were competitive , and how many we werent

Not forgatting some abysmal reffereeing performances and some just plain bad luck with injuries and suspensions

We were close to being able to establish ourselves

But it wasnt to be and we are here again , not for the 1 st time , probably not the last

the new year will hopefully bring with it new hope and optimism , you never know we might win a shield before then

Just waiting on a few of the old reserve squad to get back off their hols. Will have a team for Sunday and then a few amateurs/ex-Leigh reserves week after.

Good players Mitch and Sam will do a job

I’m very disappointed in the timing and style of DBs announcement even though I get the business side of it for him personally. It appears to me to be solely for personal benefit (as in mitigating any more personal loss) and not for the benefit of the club as a whole. If I’m wrong, I apologise, but it just looks that way from the outside.

That said, under Derek’s control I got to see a dream that my Dad would get to see Leigh make it back to SL and that I would be with him for the first game. Both those things happened when I was beginning to think they never would, and his last ever game was our first win which I also got to see with him.

So all in all I say thanks for trying Derek. It almost worked and along the way you made some people very happy for a while.

I hope there is more benefit to the club in how this last 24 hours hasn’t gone down than I can currently see.

Regardless I will be tuning in on Sunday for my usual breakfast game, I will cheer on whoever wears our shirt (even if they can’t hear me

and I will continue to support our club in any way I can through the rest of this and our future seasons.

Totally agree about the timing and it seems unnecessary and over-dramatic. Surely he has a job to do until the end of the season to get us into the best place possible?

Maybe he sees this as the best way to do that - offloading large contracts to make us financially viable and a better prospect for potential new owners

One word. GUTTED. Lets hope the timing of this just might mean there is interest already out there.

Which begs the question why we didn't hang on to the majority of that team?

Been moaned at for pointing this out from before season started . As derek said in his statement the buck stops with him .. his fault totally

I feel desperately sorry for you guys, the supporters of Leigh. You were unfortunate to go down last year and I thought you added a fair bit to SL. Your fans travelled in good numbers and created a great atmosphere most weeks. Just this year's start was chronic. Derek was causing mayhem on social media. However, since the end of February he has stayed off. Coincidence or not but results massively improved. I actually think prior to this week you as a club were more sustainable in SL than at least 2 other sides. I genuinely wish you well with the future. It may take a couple of years but you can bounce back.

Hopefully selling some players now will steady the ship and you can have a sustainable part time or hybrid side in the championship.That would be the best outcome by the looks of it. If it’s worse than that and a fresh start in L1 then it’s still not the end of the world. Leigh will be back. In some ways the ride back can be enjoyable in a weird kind of way. Best of luck.
