Ironic a thread on Allan ends up comparing Paul vs Darren. Staggering really.......

I'll join in please.



I thought Paul was a fantastic player, whose retirement caused significant on field problems as we could not replace him. I felt he was given the asst coaching role too easily and initially brought nothing to the table as we continued to struggle and change head coaches. Rumours spread how his job was guaranteed come what may and the alleged large salary he was on - this lead to the jobs for the boys type opinion, but I sat in the stand and didnt know him, what he did or didnt do but the club was under performing, tactics were poor and gameday was getting a chore



Basil came and went and it seemed around this time Paul started to step up, working with limited budgets and needing to get that extra 10% from the players. 2013 he started to blossom and 2014 as I got to see what was happening I started to appreciate the job he was doing and the respect he had - plus the rugby we played was the best I had witnessed for 30 years



The 2014 season saw Paul recognised by his results for the brilliant job he does behind the scenes and the style of play he coaches, but for me Pauls greatest hour has been overseeing the huge transition from PT to FT and the fantastic team spirit he has been integral to creating within that squad



So Thank You Paul for giving me back the pride in supporting my club again and winning over a once sceptic of your coaching abilities who is now very happy to say we have one of the best coaches in the game

Think those are strong words peggy but yeah i bet Steve Blackeley regrets backing Darren so much at the time.....

I'm not sure Andy really meant that Darren was better than Paul. I think he was just highlighting the fact that Paul hasn't yet coached at the highest level whereas Darren has. I 'got' what he was trying to say even though I didn't agree with it.



You and Andy remind me of rutting stags though and you can guarantee that if one of you posts something the other will come out fighting; even if you're essentially arguing about the same thing.







Both of you go mate then come back in a better mood.

I clarified that Mish I don't beleive DA is a better coach or would I swap PR for anyone else at this time.



I merely questioned what I felt was a bold statement and something that can't be factually suported.



I hope and believe PR can emulate the success of 04 and take us back to SL.

Tipster Ste is backing PR to get this club to Wembley within the 3 next years. A very bold prediction but one that from the bottom of my heart comes off !



I also understand where Andy was coming from but his post is being taken out of context after being pushed (and answering Ste)



Abram achieved SL with Leigh and won trophies with Leigh, Paul will achieve SL but has not yet.



As for the people who appointed Abram, well they are the people running the club now (Derek and Alan) and they should have removed him the day after the Grand Final victory but they did not. Castleford sacked Dave Woods after he got them back into SL and brought in a more equipped coach to keep them in SL.



Abram did not have the skill-set to be a SL coach. It was abundantly obvious to most people. It is just not about coaching players any more a couple of nights a week. It is paramount for s successful SL coach to have a holistic approach as you are required for Media, Sponsor, Community, and Supporter obligations. It was obvious from day 1 Abram was lacking in these area's and not going to be able to manage this and to be honest he did the complete obvious in alienating so many fractions of our club.

Dave Woods did not have his contract renewed after steering Castleford into Super League.



Terry Matterson,who replaced him,steered Castleford to relegation in his first season.

Allan would do a good job as ceo. He's Leigh through & through. Also he works for Derek so is probably doing it now without recognition.

I really don't know why any appoinent at this club is being questioned when we are on cloud nine. The club is going from strength to strength with the people presently running it. Even if mistakes do get made then you can only criticise them if they don't rectify them.

I wasn't questioning the appointment merely stating he's doing the job now without recognition.
