We beat London & Wakefield and drew with Hull, in a mid season 'purple patch' at home!

| Now that takes me back, to when i still lived in blighty. If i remeber rightly should have been a scrum rather that a turnover then hull went the length of the pitch in the dying seconds, there was also a very dodgy looking conversion.
Can any other the old timers remember that when we played Bradford in 2005 that a young Sam Burgess played for them at Hilton park, somethings telling me it was one of his first games, just a thought.

| Quote Ste100Centurions="Ste100Centurions"I think we ran Wigan very hard in the 1st half at Hilton Park, was it 4 tries before a reply ?
This was just following their 70 - 0 & 71 - 0 maulings at the hands of Leeds & Saints, Wigan hadn't scored a try for a long time at that point & IIRC the fans on the Mick Martyn side asked them about it.
Think there was a Leigh hat-trick too (struggling to remember the name of the Leigh player) before he was cruelly injured over their line at the Railway Road End.'"
Ste,I'm not 100% sure but wasn't the player who scored the hat trick a stand off called Jones?I can't remember his first name.

That's the bloke I think he finished after that season, personally Alan ,I didn't enjoy that season at all, I was on holiday when I heard the news Darren Abram had resigned, that made the holiday seem so much better, but when I look at some of the players we had,Jason Kent, Jason Ferris, Darren Fleary, Steve McCurrie, and Dom Feaunati I think his name was,it makes me think how fortunate we are now,I'm looking forward to next Season, and hopefully making a fist of the situation this time around.

Hmmmm ....
Either my brain is addled by the amber nectar or the stats are wrong (most likely me).
Anyway Charlie, the player I recall was Centre/Wing Danny Halliwel *think he represented Wales too*, what I seem to remember is a Halliwel hat trick & he was carried off at Hilton Park after a suspect & late challenge over the Wigan line, put him out for a lot of games.
The team also featured another fans favourite Jon Wilshere who was snapped up by Salford following our relegation.

No Ste , you are right, I think Danny Hall well did score a hat trick before going off injured, and I agree John Wishers was one of the highlights of that season , along with Craig Stapleton and I think they BOTH went to Salford. We have learned from our time in last year's middle 8s, let's hope we have learned from our last experience in SL.

| Done some checking back Charlie & all the stats suggest that I am wrong ....
Danny Halliwel did score a hat trick in Super League X at [iThe Colliseum[/i *remember that name* against Saints in a narrow defeat.
No hat tricks in the game v Wigan but we scored the 1st 3 tries (1 from Phil Jones) before going down to another narrow defeat before a crowd of just over 7,500.
IIRC we had to play Leeds 3 times in Super League X, never stood a cat in Hell's chance that year.
Bradford romped it home with big Leslie Vainikolo.

Trouble was, charlie, by the time we had won the GF, there was no talent left. We had better players lined up (whose names totally escape me) but we were outbid by London, for 3-4 of them. I remember that we had loads of SL shirts left at the end of that season. many of them were 7XL (yes, 7!!) I believe they had been purchased with Mr McCurrie in mind!

| Wasn't the Phil Jones hat trick against Wakefield in one of our 2 wins?
My memory of the Wigan game at Hilton Park was we started well then it went downhill when Rowley went off.

Luke Dorn was one that we missed out on. London came in with a last minute offer to gazump us.

It was, the third try can be seen here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nNR19eOLXbI
Seem to remember Phil Jones kicking a few goals that day too.
He returned to rugby union the following year, Sedgely Park I think.
