| Throughout the season up until the last four weeks, it has been obvious that everyone was unhappy with the team and for this reason I had not instigated the 'Player of the Year' award process of asking supporters for their votes.
However I have been asked a few times by some supporters if it will be given this year - most recently at the Saints game.
It is too late to get a new silver trophy made for this year. The one from last year is Harlequins so can't add the player's name to that as has been the usual thing - but I could maybe get a token - say a glass Tankard and have it engraved before I come down for the last game next week. For those who don't know, the award is a memorial also to Gwen Warren who did so much as a supporter of the club through 20+ years and is funded by the remnants of the funds left in the Supporters Club coffers.
If you think it is appropriate to give an award this year, please PM me with your nomination (ONLY). I don't want chapter and verse of the why's and why not's!!!

| Yes Dixon gave 100% commitment every game. He would have a great season if the players around him had wanted to play for 80 minutes too.

| Nah Dixon should be Young Player.
If he gets the main award, it will be the kiss of death like it was when JO'C got it (and Will Sharp, come to that!)

| An easy choice for me - Craig Gower - for all the guts & determination he's put into every game with very little reward. A real gritty bugger who has only missed one match all season. Agree Dixon should be young player of the year.

| Whoever makes the presentation on the pitch, could they just hand out the prize and talk up the positives of the recipient and not slag of the teams poor season like has happened before.

| But fans dont get a vote on young player of the year so he could have given 100% every game and come away with nothing, whereas Gower is a senior player and I would expect him to show the same commitment shown by Dixon but I have not seen it every game and unfortunatley for me his petulance on friday would stop me voting for him. HOwever I would agree either he or Melling who gives 100% every game would be my second choice.

| Quote rosetintedspecs="rosetintedspecs"unfortunatley for me his (Gower) petulance on friday would stop me voting for him'" He's always done that, certainly after each home game except for one of the matches we won recently. I think it's just a Gower mannerism - always first off the pitch often scowling. It's never bothered me but I did appreciate the other players walking over to the East stand on Friday night to acknowledge the Broncos supporters who had made the effort to show up at Langtree Park.

| Sorry Rosie, just because he doesn't come and kiss the fans at the end of a game shouldn't detract from the fact that he has been our oustanding player on the pitch by a country mile.
Look at the stats....they will tell you who has given his all on the pitch.
Then again, are we voting for what players have done on the pitch or is it more a question of who smiles or doesn't mind having their photo done?

| Gower is a winner who has played at the top of his game for years. Losing isnt in his mindset.
Have you been watching the programme on Sky Atlantic that follows the Sky cycle team? Brailsford the sky programme manager has a win at all cost mentality. It is brilliant- Its no coincidence that we have bucket loads of Olympic golds, a Tour De France winner etc.
It's a pity more of the players aren't like Gower. Professional, winners........
