| With Mcguire landing in England soon do you think he will choose a new captain? new ideas new techniques Mcguire and Wane may opt to choose a new captain? if so who would your choice be.
Personally mine would be George Carmont may not have all the exsperiance in the world but at the grand old age of 31 he has the maturity and the respect from all of the younger players to look upto.
With either Lockers or Leuluai taking the vice captaincy.

| I think Lockers will remain captain and rightfully so, I don't know who the vice captain is but my vote would go to Sam Tomkins.

I'm not sure that replacing Lockers at this stage would be an astute move. It think it's more likely that Maguire will want to have a good look at his team before making such a decision, though no doubt Shaun Wane will already have marked his cards on likely candidates.

| We don't need a new captain. Vice captain could be Sam or Phelps I reckon. Both seem fired up when it's important.

| Lockers is our captain and should continue in the role for the forseeable future imo.
He's grown in the role over the years and the job is becoming easier all the time for him as he gets more experience and more and more young lads come into the team who look upto him as a role model.

| I can't see any reason to take the captaincy off Lockers?
In regards to the vice captaincy I can see no reason to look any further than Tommy L.
He’s talented, young and already well respected. Add to that he’s played in some big games in the past and seems to wear his heart on his sleeve he’d be the perfect candidate.
Maybe the added experience and responsibility will bring his game on as well as he’s got to start marshalling from HB more.
I agree that it would be too much for Sam next season. After all let’s not forget next season will only be Sam’s 2nd in SL and his first starting as Wigan’s No.6. Let his game develop a little more first as it’s not like we are in a massive rush. If he gets the captaincy in 4 years time he’ll still only be 24 then!

| If Lockers retires around 32/33 years of age Sam will be in his prime at 26/27 ish and will be in a perfect position to take the captaincy on.
It's long term planning like that the club needs.

Defiantly.
The captaincy is an important role at the club but the supporting players have to help as well. We are in a lucky situation that we've got a long term captain sorted now lets build a supporting network round him.

Thats it isn't it.........you have a captain in name but in reality you need numerous leaders within your side who are willing to put their hand up and lead the way.
Leeds have them in Sinfield, Peacock, McGuire, JJB etc and Saints have them in Cunningham, Wellens, Graham etc.
We now look to be building a side with leades in there like Lockers, Bailey(if he stays), Carmont and Sam Tomkins.
