We would have won. Several of their tries came from obstructions and knock ons and would have gone to the screen. It once again highlights poor refereeing standards and inconsistancies. What about when Goulding was out cold?? I thought if a player had a head injury play had to stop...

From memory their first try looked dubious but I was at the other end which gave me a perfect view of their last try which was an embarrassment. The 12 year old in goal judge lost the plot but then who's putting lads like those in these positions anyway?

Certainly one of their first half tries would have been ruled out had the VR been used at that game for an obstruction, Briscoe's "knock on" in the build up to another would have been worth a look too. I'm not sure on the ruling regarding Goulding's situation but he was out cold.



End of the day though, the referees are not going to be blamed for seriously underestimating the opposition.

Agreed. Wigan's defeat (apparently they lost, I was shocked when I checked on the BBC) was due to the referee, not from the fact they picked seventeen random lads off King Street last night and played them.

I'm sorry but televised or not we missed to many 1 on 1 tackles, dropped to much ball and widnes didn't their completion rate was good today and they deserved the win. We shouldn't be conceding 37 points against anyone never mind widness

Listening to it on the radio it seemed a few calls went Wigans way....but I can't really comment, I wasn't there

There where a few dubious calls. But had we not been so disrespectful to Widnes and played all our best players then we would probablynot have been in the position where 1 or 2 dodgy try's could cost us. It was poor play on our part to lose good leads like we did, not only once but twice.



I'm not sure how the one after that knock on was given, Hicks was actually about to blow the whistle for a knock on then just changed his mind when the try was scored. And another try would have been chalked by a video ref off for a blatant obstruction on Hock. But either way, they where the better team, There was an obvious lack of leadership out there today and at times it was obvious that people didn't know what they where meant to be doing. they out enthused us and the fact that wane chose to rest so many key players will have been motivation enough for Widnes.



We got what we deserved today.

In fairness there were questions about Widnes's first two tries (knock on first, obstruction for second), however Wigan's first two tries in the second half were both dubious. The officials were very poor today, but equally bad for both sides and not the reason for Wigan's defeat.
