| Quote bigtruck="bigtruck"But Wigan are top and Warrington are 3rd therefore logic suggests all our players are better than all your players
'"
if that is being serious it's the most stupid arguement ever!
riddell better than monas you are having a laugh.
the only players i would take from wigan are the 2 tomkins, richards, robertsand o'loughlin on that evidence i think wire and wigan are equally matched atm and shown by meetings in the league it's 1-1.
my team would be:
richards
roberts
king
atkins
riley
briers
tomkins
morley
monaghan
carvell
j.tomkins
westwood
o'loughlin
subs:
clarke
solomona
fielden (can;t say higham is good enough or vanderson only half decent wigan forwards who can make metres)
wood

Thanks. Glad the League Leader's Trophy is fair enough.
You may think it small potatoes, but you didn't manage to win it, did you.
PS: The manly response would have been to admit that you forgot about it.'"
Nobody really counts it now though, not as one of the major trophies. It's like finishing top of a qualifying group in the world cup/champions league. It's good for seeding but doesn't really matter as the only advantage it gives you is a choice in the eliminator. I didn't forget about it, just see it as insignificant and not a major trophy. Some Wigan fans were harping on the past few years that final placings don't matter as it was all about the playoffs and the grand final or was that just when you weren't finishing top? Whatever suits I suppose. When you win the grand final I'll be put in my place anyhow

Maybe, but for us the hubcap represents a massive change in the club after numerous years of inconcistency and disappointment. That's why we're so happy about it, and for that reason alone, we consider it a major trophy.
Not only that, but we've done it with the same squad that produced said inconsistent performances, and therefore (even looking past this years playoffs) everyone is excited because of the higher quality players we are bringing in to supplement the team, just think about what we can do when MM has his own squad and players.

You're not wriggling out of this by trying to change the subject into how good or bad a trophy it is. The fact is it's a trophy.
You said Wigan hadn't won anything. You're wrong.
It's currently Wigan 1, Wire 1.

Do we count the Wire FM trophy then?

Totally agree with all of that. A great achievment and something to be proud of, my point is that nobody counts it as a "major trophy" nobody else has ever mentioned it. For what it's worth I actually think you will win win the GF as you've been great all season and your defence outstanding.

| Quote Cruncher="Cruncher"This discussion is getting close to pointless.
Most Wire fans will only have seen Gleeson play on TV, and most Wigan fans will have equally limited knowledge of Wire's centres. (The same applies to the Saints commentator).
No-one is really qualified to say their players are the 'better ones'.
A factual analysis of this season's competition is equally inconclusive. The two teams have both cancelled each other out once. Wire have a won a big trophy, but Wigan have finished the season with significantly more league points than Wire, proving that they are more consistent.
That said, Wigan fans ARE qualified to claim that Martin Gleeson has been a very good signing for them - because he has. And if Warrington have THREE centres who are better than him, their lowlier position in the league table doesn't provide much evidence of it.'"
A very well argued post, if massively flawed logically. And to think you were the bloke who e-mailed Stuart Cummins and asked why referees wore black shirts (or whatever banal question it was).
